  • Patent number: 6453718
Abstract: A multistation press, particularly a suction device press, for machining sheet metal parts is provided for the successive machining of workpieces in several stages. Several press stations are arranged behind one another so that workpieces pass through the stations successively. At least one transfer device transports the workpiece. A common driving device for all press stations has a drive shaft divided into shaft sections. At least one press station is assigned to each shaft section. Slides are driven by the drive shaft and are assigned to one press station, respectively. An adjustable coupling is provided between two successively arranged shaft sections for adjusting a specific phase shift between two successive press stations.

  • Patent number: 5737960
Abstract: A press with several press stations is provided for serially machining larger sheet metal parts. A transfer unit transports workpieces through the press stations which are arranged behind one another in the machining sequence. The transfer unit has a first section constructed as a three-axis transfer and a second section constructed as a cross-traverse transfer. The three-axis transfer has a pair of mutually parallel gripper rails with gripper devices which, by way of a lateral feeding movement of the gripper rails can be engaged with and disengaged from the workpieces. The cross-traverse transfer has a pair of mutually parallel transport rails which are connected with one another by cross-traverses provided with gripper devices for the workpieces. The cross-traverse transfer has parking positions between individual press stations in which the cross-traverses remain during the operation of the press stations.

  • Patent number: 5473927
Abstract: A transfer device in a simulator or a press has two transport rails which extend in the press passage direction and which can be moved in two or three axes. One or several carrier rails are detachably mounted on each transport rail. For a tool change, the carrier rails can be deposited on depositing supports of the sliding table. Between the transport rails and the carrier rails, locking and fastening devices are provided which permit a coupling-uncoupling operation which is caused by the movements of the carrier rails in the axes.

  • Patent number: 5012665
Abstract: A hybrid press installation employs a plurality of individual presses including a drawing press and transfer presses. These presses, by means of frames, are set up on common installation surfaces. A tool is assigned to each press which includes a head piece, a slide and a press bed and a sliding table. The tools can be exchanged by means of the sliding tables. A transfer device extends through the hydrid press installation, the components of this transfer device being arranged above the sheet metal conveying plane, and gripping the sheet metal parts from above. Intermediate depositing devices are positioned between two working stages. As a result, a reduction of the length of the transfer movement of the sheet metal parts per slide stroke is achieved. In this manner, large-surface and/or thin-walled and therefore unstable sheet metal parts can be transferred.

  • Patent number: 4981031
Abstract: A transfer device permits different moving sequences of holding devices for sheet metal parts which are to be moved through a metal-forming machine. The holding devices are fastened to carriages. The carriages are cam-guided, in which case carriage carries out a transfer movement from a working stage to an idle stage while taking along a sheet metal part. The return movement is interrupted in an intermediate position during the deforming operation of the sheet metal parts. The carriage carries out a transfer movement from the idle stage to a working stage and a return movement which is temporarily interrupted in an intermediate stage. As a result of the low-mass construction of carriages, high accelerations are possible in the movements. The transfer movements are shortened significantly by the use of intermediate depositing devices in the idle stages.

  • Patent number: 4896594
Abstract: A drawing installation for a press which has to produce the holding force for the counter-holding during the drawing. The drawing ram displaces the sheet metal part and the sheet metal holder against the holding force to be produced by the drawing installation and must additionally overcome the inertia forces which occur as a result of the acceleration of the parts of the drawing installation at the beginning of the deformation of the sheet metal part. In order to avoid the forces which occur thereby impact-like, the piston rod transmitting the holding force is pre-accelerated in the drawing direction prior to the contact of the drawing ram on the sheet metal holder. The piston rod has an operating surface adapted to be acted upon in the drawing direction. The pressure space coordinated to the operating surface is adapted to be connected with a pressure quantity space of a pre-acceleration cylinder and with a reservoir by way of a follow-up control.

  • Patent number: 4821552
Abstract: A drawing installation for a press which must produce the holding force during the drawing operation. The drawing ram displaces the sheet metal part and the sheet metal holder against the holding force and additionally must overcome at the beginning of the sheet metal deformation the inertia forces of the accelerated parts of the drawing installation. In order to avoid the forces which occur thereby in an impact-like manner, the piston rods transmitting the holding force and the ejector piston rods are pre-accelerated prior to the drawing ram. The piston rods each include an operating surface adapted to be acted upon in the drawing direction. The pressure spaces coordinated thereto are connected with a pressure quantity space each of a pre-acceleration cylinder and by way of a refill control with a pressure source. The control of the pre-acceleration cylinder and of the refill from the pressure source takes place in dependence on the movement of the drawing ram.
