Abstract: A cutting insert for parting off a metal work piece includes an elongated body having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first lateral surface, a second lateral surface connecting the top surface and the bottom surface at one lateral side each, a front surface connecting the first and second lateral surfaces, the top surface and the bottom surface, a longitudinal axis extending axially rearward from the front surface in a central plane, and a cutting head having a cutting edge. The cutting edge is formed at an intersection between the front surface and the top surface. The cutting edge includes a leading cutting corner at the first lateral side surface and a trailing cutting corner at the second lateral side surface. The trailing cutting corner is located axially rearward of the leading cutting corner. The cutting edge has a rearmost point located axially rearward from the trailing cutting corner.

Abstract: A parting blade includes an internal cooling agent supply and has two substantially plane-parallel lateral faces and a continuous transversal bore connected to a cooling agent channel that runs parallel to the lateral faces in the interior of the parting blade. In order to provide a parting blade that has no projection on one side, a stopper is provided having two substantially parallel end faces and a circumferential face that connects the end faces. The stopper can be inserted into the transversal bore of the parting blade, thereby sealing the transversal bore relative to at least one lateral face of the parting blade. The stopper terminates without protruding over the sealed lateral face, flush with the lateral face. The stopper has an opening on both the end face and the circumferential face. The openings are connected to one another in the interior of the stopper to connect the cooling agent channel to a cooling agent source.

One of these two sides has first and second spaced-apart contact points for one side of a cutting insert and the opposite side has a third contact point. A stop for limiting the insertion depth of the cutting inset into the recess is provided inside the recess. That side of the cutting insert that has the third contact point is additionally assigned the stop, which is configured such that it simultaneously acts as a further, fourth lateral contact point opposite the first and second contact points and as a stop for limiting the insertion depth of the cutting insert.

Abstract: Indexable cutting insert with a plate-like main body having two parallel main surfaces and a peripheral surface connecting the two main surfaces and with a plurality of sections angled with respect to one another, wherein four cutting edges that extend transversely to the main surfaces are provided on the peripheral surface at the transition to sections, that are angled with respect to one another, of the peripheral surface, and wherein the position of the cutting edges defines a quadrilateral in the plan view of the main surfaces. Fixing with more favorable leverages and permanently more precise positioning of the cutting edges are provided by the quadrilateral having in each case two short and two long sides and cutting edges oriented in each case in opposite directions in the peripheral direction at adjacent corners and oriented in each case in the same direction at diagonally opposite corners of the quadrilateral.
