  • Patent number: 5396234
Abstract: Traffic monitoring equipment including traffic speed measuring equipment has a signal validation facility incorporated to enhance reliability of the equipment. This facility permits the monitoring operation, for example speed measurement, to proceed only if the validation is positive, if negative the operation is aborted and/or a warning signal or shutdown is activated. Validation is made of pulse sequence, pulse strength, radio frequency interference, insulation breakdown, cable integrity (where cables are used) and the like.

  • Patent number: 5245334
Abstract: An installation of traffic detection cables adapted for sub-surface mounting or adapted for top surface mounting which comprises a moulding of prismatic type, that is having the substantially same cross sectional shape extending longitudinally in which two detection cables are embedded, in which the cables are separated to reduce to acceptable levels or levels which can be handled by suitable electronic circuitry or logic signal processing cross cable interference effects when an impulse is applied to the profile by passage of the vehicle wheels. A void or plate can separate the cables in a matrix of about 85 Shore hardness.

  • Patent number: 5008666
Abstract: Traffic measurement equipment has a pair of coaxial cables having barium titanate piezo-electric responsive crystals embedded in the polymer together with a vehicle presence detector to indicate all measurements required of traffic including vehicle count, vehicle length, vehicle time of arrival, vehicle speed in any required measure, number of axles per vehicle, axle distance per vehicle, vehicle gap, headway and axle weights.
