  • Publication number: 20030196707
Abstract: A safety device is provided for a gas distribution system in an airplane, containing at least one pressure regulator (5) between a pressurized gas source (2) and a supply line. Reliability of operation is improved with the provision of a pressure-limiting device (4) with two lines (41, 42) arranged in parallel with two pressure-limiting valves (43, 44, 45, 46) each arranged in the same direction in series. The pressure-limiting device (4) is arranged upstream of the pressure regulator (5).

  • Publication number: 20030010382
Abstract: A modular oxygen supply system is provided comprising at least one module skeleton with a baseplate with frames arranged in parallel to one another. The system includes supply lines for ambient air with air connections for taking off the air, first gas lines for oxygen with first gas connections for taking up the oxygen and second gas lines for outgoing air with second gas connections for taking up outgoing air. Rack guides with data lines are provided. At least one individual module can be pushed into the module skeleton. Each individual module has at least one molecular sieve container fastened on a baseplate with the gas connections and with an electric contact. Each individual module has a gas treatment unit for the ambient air fed in. A pressure reducer and a multiple-way valve as well as an oxygen reservoir are arranged downstream of the molecular sieve container or containers connected in parallel.

  • Patent number: 6442767
Abstract: A safety helmet combined with a visor (3) in a detachable connection, which is formed by holding structure located on both sides at the safety helmet shell (2). Wear properties are improved by the holding structure having rigid coupling hooks (10), which are connected to the visor (3), catch openings (11) receiving the coupling hooks (10), and hinges. A visor structure (13) that can be pivoted over the visor (3) is fastened to the hinges (12); and the detachable connection is designed such that the visor structure (13) is connected to the visor (3) in one assembly unit with it when the visor (3) is removed from the safety helmet (1).

  • Publication number: 20020029777
Abstract: An apparatus for supplying respiratory gas to a parachute jumper includes a mask which can be worn by the parachute jumper and a first respiratory gas reservoir includes a pressurized-gas vessel containing respiratory gas. The pressurized-gas vessel has an adjustable metering valve for metering respiratory gas contained in the pressurized vessel. A breathing hose connects the metering valve to the mask for conducting the respiratory gas to the mask. A second respiratory-gas reservoir contains a solid-state oxygen generator and has a manually-actuable starting device for the solid-state oxygen generator. The second respiratory-gas reservoir is connected to the breathing hose.

  • Patent number: 6279571
Abstract: The invention is directed to an emergency hood to be worn by a person in an environment where there is fire or contamination. The hood closes off the head of the person to the ambient and has an elastic, gas-impermeable ruff extending down to the neck and shoulder region of the wearer. The hood has an interior space for accommodating the head of the wearer and is made of a fire resistant gas-impermeable material and has a transparent visor in the region of the eyes or face of the person and the visor likewise is made of fire resistant, gas-impermeable material. An oxygen supply unit supplies oxygen to the hood for use by the person and a water and carbon dioxide absorbing flexible areal absorber unit is mounted in the interior space.

  • Patent number: 5961442
Abstract: A control device for admitting compressed air into anti-g pilot pants to reduce the effects of forces of acceleration on the pilot. Flight maneuvers with rapid change from negative to positive acceleration shall be made possible by the present invention over a broader range than before. To achieve this, the control device is provided with control means (5-10, 13, 14) for detecting changes in acceleration from negative to positive values, which bring about an additional admission of pressure over a limited period of time with a profile decreasing over time at rates of acceleration change above a predetermined value.
