  • Patent number: 7908731
Abstract: In ventilation and air-conditioning technology, so-called spiral pipes have to be joined together in a tightly sealed manner at widely differing angles, which is generally carried out by segment bends and pipe sections. An improved, durable seal of folded-seam connections is achieved by a flange-like double fold which is arranged at a first pipe end and which is surrounded on the outside at least in part with positive locking and with a continuous metal seal, by a second double fold at the second pipe end.

  • Patent number: 6874398
Abstract: A tube cutting assembly has a pair of opposite, rotatable cutting wheels, the outer of which is movable into engagement with a rotatable tube for cutting through the tube wall. Each cutting wheel is provided with a peripheral elastic ring which is configured to engage the tube wall and which is compressible towards the opposite cutting wheel. As a result, undesirable deformations of the cut tube end are avoided.

  • Patent number: 6598285
Abstract: Formerly, several machines or workstations have been required for bordering and closing creases, especially on pipes used in ventilation technology. The invention provides a machine that can carry out all of the operations without the workpiece having to be rechecked. By positioning the closing wheel (6), known per se, underneath the work surface, all of the operations, including the insertion of a sealing strip, can be carried out precisely and economically at the same workstation. According to a preferred method, a bead is first pressed in the workpiece (100) using a moulding roll (2) and a beading and feeding roll (1). During machining with these hydromechanically driven rolls (2, 1), the workpiece (100) is held in the correct working position. The closing process is carried out from the bottom and enables optimum adjustment of the angle of intervention on the closing wheel (6) and reduces wear.

  • Patent number: 6453710
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a helically-wound lock-seam tube for a ventilation duct system, the tube is provided with a plurality of air nozzles through its wall. The method involves the steps of: feeding a strip of sheet metal from a supply to a punching and pressing unit; punching and pressing the strip in the punching/pressing unit to form two rows of spaced openings through the strip; feeding the punched strip to a roller unit, in which a longitudinal bead is formed in the strip; feeding the punched and beaded strip to a forming head in which the strip is helically-wound to form a tube having a helical lock seam; feeding the helically-wound lock-seam tube out of the forming head; and cutting the tube into desired lengths. The apparatus has components for carrying out the various method steps, and the finished tube is provided with a desired pattern of air nozzles.

  • Patent number: 5074018
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting pipes into sections are described. A punching unit (7) forms apertures (8) in strip (2) from which pipe (4) is formed on winding core (3). A cutting device (5) has a circular shears (10) which has a first, smaller-diameter cutting roller (13) and a second cutting roller (14) each having two cutting edges. The first cutting roller (13) is swivelled through aperture (8) into the pipe (4). Rotary movement of the pipe (4) effects cutting, during which the cutting rollers (13, 14) move in synchronism with the pipe (4) so that the pipe is cut from the inside and the outside by the cutting rollers (13, 14).

  • Patent number: 4538334
Abstract: A jointing machine for the folding of seams in manufacturing of seamed metal sheets made of segments of metal sheets is disclosed, wherein the machine includes a locking wheel pivotably positioned in a recess of a resiliently disposed locking wheel carriage. The seam during formation is supported from below by a support roller, and is held from the sides by an adjustment roller together with the locking wheel. The locking wheel carriage is positioned diagonally relative to the surface of the support roller, which enables the machine to manufacture folded seams in very small metal sheet segments, and to utilize thick or hard metal sheets.
