  • Patent number: 8662007
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for continuously coating cores by means of a dragée-making apparatus (15) comprising at least one rotatably driven drum (1) in which the product (5) is coated with one or several coating materials or is subjected to other treatment processes, such as spraying, drying. In order to be able to individually treat several small charges within a very limited space and with little effort regarding machines, the charge of the product that is to be processed is divided into small individual charges at the inlet end of the drum, is conveyed through the drum in a clocked manner, and is treated in individual treatment chambers (7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) in the drum, which are separated from each other. The longitudinal conveyor (3) that conveys the individual charges through the drum embodies the individual treatment chambers in connection with the inner wall of the drum.

  • Patent number: 7955643
Abstract: Continuously coating cores by a dragee-making apparatus including at least one rotatably driven drum in which the product is coated with one or several coating materials or is subjected to other treatment processes. The charge of the product to be processed divided into small individual charges at the inlet end of the drum is conveyed through the drum in a clocked manner and treated in individual treatment chambers separated from each other. The longitudinal conveyor that conveys the individual charges through the drum embodies the individual treatment chambers in connection with the inner wall of the drum. The products to be treated constantly rotate in the revolving drum without being conveyed in the longitudinal direction, the longitudinal conveyor located in the drum conveying the product from one treatment station to the next as required. A passage is formed from one chamber to the adjacent, other chamber if necessary.

  • Patent number: 5238494
Abstract: A coating machine with counter-flow and parallel-flow air conduction is used for coating tablets, granules, pellets, dragees and the like with one or more coating compositions. The cores to be coated are arranged in a rotatably driven, perforated drum which includes an air conducting channel surrounding the drum at its outer periphery, which air channel is provided with air from an air supply fixed to the housing, with air streams differently directed into the drum. In order to provide an operationally reliable, positively controlled and easy-to-clean air distributor, an annular distributor plate is mounted rotatably on an annular flange fixed to the housing, the distributor plate having slots therein which are connected to the air connections of the air supply, and the annular flange is in turn connected in an airtight manner to the air conducting channel of the drum by part-annular chambers separate from each other.

  • Patent number: 4766839
Abstract: A spray arm (6) is arranged parallel to the axis (2) of a drum with a multi-spray system for the production of dragees, on which a jet arrangement (9)(36) for the spraying of kernels, together with, as necessary a cleaning fixture for cleaning the jet arrangement is provided. So that in one and the same drum, several kernels can be treated with different materials, the drum (1) is divided axially into several separate coating chambers, whereby several parallel partitions, each dividing a section of the drum, extend diametrically from the inner circumference of the drum (1) radially inwards in the direction of the drum axis and in each drum section (10)(11) a separate spray arm section (13)(14) is arranged.

  • Patent number: 4596205
Abstract: In a pivoted drum, e.g., a dragee coating drum for coating granular surfaces, a pivoted nozzle carrier (26b) projects along the drum axis, while forming an annular chamber (57), from which extends a multitude of similarly arranged elbows (64) with spray nozzles (65). A casing tube (22) surrounding the nozzle arrangement forms a lid (73) which, when in operating position, is opened by the spray nozzles, so that a spray can be sprayed into the coating chamber outside the casing tube (22). When in cleansing position (65'), the spraying device is completely sealed off to the outside and can be thoroughly rinsed with a cleansing agent which is drained off inside the casing tube (22) by the gutter (69) and the drain pipe (71). The cleansing processes can then be executed during the short intervals between coating, without interrupting the overall program.

  • Patent number: 4586457
Abstract: A pill-coating apparatus for covering granulets such as pill cores with a multilayer coating has a coating drum rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis, the drum being formed with a hub at each axial end thereof supported in two pivot bearings axially spaced apart from one another, wherein at least one of the two pivot bearings is formed as a rotatable linkage, comprising a roller bearing connected to a support rotatably adjustable in any direction.
