  • Patent number: 6934352
Abstract: A 3-D subject is irradiated by an x-ray source at a number of source positions relative to the 3-D subject. A 2-D image of the irradiated subject is recorded by an x-ray detector at a number of corresponding detector positions relative to the subject. An evaluation unit, using the source and the detector positions, automatically determines whether a 3-D reconstruction of the subject is possible. As soon as this is the case, the abort criterion for recording images of the subject is fulfilled, so no further images or data are acquired.
