  • Patent number: 4647645
Abstract: Non-aqueous lacquer with high resistance to stone chipping, containing, as binder, a mixture of film forming, hydroxyl-containing copolymers with blocked polyisocyanates which have been obtained by the reaction of polyhydroxyl compounds containing 2 to 4 hydroxyl groups per molecule and having a molecular weight of from 400 to 2,000 with aliphatic and/or cyclo aliphatic diisocyanates, the ratio of isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups being in the range of from 2.2 to 1.7, followed by reaction of the remaining free isocyanate groups with acetoacetic acid alkyl esters containing, as alkyl groups, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, i-propyl, n-butyl, i-butyl or sec.-butyl groups, a process for its preparation, and its use.

  • Patent number: 4606947
Abstract: Lacquer for coatings protecting against stone chipping, containing pigments, fillers, binders consisting of a mixture of film forming, hydroxyl-containing polyesters and aliphatic and/or cycloaliphatic polyisocyanates which are blocked with acetoacetic acid alkyl esters and have an average functionality of at least 2.5, organic solvents and conventional lacquer additives, which lacquer contains certain polyesters having an average hydroxyl functionality of from 2.5 to 6 and a hydroxyl content of from 2 to 6% by weight and containing from 15 to 50% by weight (aliphatic content) of aliphatic groups which have at least 4 to 20 carbon atoms in an unbranched chain, the proportion by weight of this aliphatic group content in the polyester to the benzene ring content in the polyester, calculated as the sum of the weight of carbon atoms of the benzene rings and of the hydrogen atoms attached to these carbon atoms (aromatic content) is from 1 to 2.5, and a process for its preparation and its use.

  • Patent number: 4409340
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat-curable coating composition, comprising:(A) a prepolymer with ketoxime-blocked NCO groups, which are linked to the prepolymer via cycloaliphatic and/or aliphatic groups,(B) a diamine cross linker,(C) organic solvents in an amount of 0 to 50 weight percent, based on the total weight of the coating composition,(D) optionally pigments, fillers, blowing agents and other known additives. The equivalence ratio of blocked NCO groups of component (A) to NH.sub.2 groups of component (B) lies between 1.3:1 and 0.75:1. The invention also relates to processes for its application and its use. The composition has a long shelf life and is advantageously used as an impact resistive coating on metal substrates such as automobile parts.
