  • Patent number: 8251570
Abstract: A process for concentrating and diluting a treatment substance to provide a diluted treatment for introduction to a wellbore is disclosed. In one embodiment, the process includes measuring a treatment fluid flow rate. The process also includes blending the treatment fluid with a treatment substance to produce a concentrated treatment fluid. The process further includes measuring a flow rate of the concentrated treatment fluid. Moreover, the process includes determining a difference between the treatment fluid flow rate and the flow rate of the concentrated treatment fluid. In addition, the process includes comparing the difference to a target difference. The process additionally includes adjusting the difference to be within a desired range of the target difference and diluting the concentrated treatment fluid to provide the diluted treatment fluid.

  • Publication number: 20120138295
Abstract: An improved proppant and method of use are shown for use in wellbore operations in which a well is hydraulically fractured with a suitable fluid to create fractures in a surrounding subterranean formation where the proppant is used to hold the fracture open and provide a conduit for the production of fluids or gases. The improved proppant has associated therewith a chemically active adjunct material designed to react with the fracturing fluid, with the surrounding subterranean formation or with a fluid produced from the subterranean formation. The chemically active adjunct material may be an ion exchange resin which reacts with any multivalent ions released into solution by reaction of the fracturing fluid with the surrounding formation or with any multivalent ions dissolved in formation fluids, in order that these fluids being produced from the well will not contain these ions, requiring more exotic treatment procedures on the well surface.

  • Patent number: 4381034
Abstract: A well cementing composition and method of cementing well bores are disclosed in which a slurry is first prepared utilizing cement, mixing water, and aluminum hydroxychloride in the range of 0.1 to 4.5 weight percent based on the dry weight of cement. The slurry thus prepared when pumped into place in the well bore has zero free water content thereby reducing the bridging or channeling in the cement column which is associated with free water formation.

  • Patent number: 4003431
Abstract: A method of cementing oil, gas or water wells and the like, wherein a solution, dispersion, suspension, or the like of a cement additive in water is prepared at a predetermined concentration of additive and is thereafter mixed with dry powdered cement to form a cement slurry, and a sample of the additive-water mixture is analyzed prior to its being mixed with the cement, to verify that the additive-water mixture contains the desired concentration of additive. The analysis of the additive-water mixture preferably is performed continuously on a sample of the mixture in a spectrophotometer, the output signal of which may be displayed on a meter or may be used to control the relative quantities of water and additive that go into the additive-water mixture.
