  • Patent number: 4124544
Abstract: Waste waters, particularly waste waters with radioactive contamination, are cleaned by a sorption-precipitating process, where the sorbent retaining cations are regenerated that is, activated, by a solution, the cationic component of which forms with anionic contaminations a precipitate, taking along cationic contaminations, and simultaneously sticking on the surface and within pores of the sorbent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 1, 1975
Date of Patent: November 7, 1978
Assignee: Ceskoslovenska komise pro atomovou energii
Inventors: Hubert Prochazka, Karel Stamberg, Rudolf Jilek, Pavel Hulak, Pavel Nemec, Josef Katzer, Karel Stastny
  • Patent number: 4067821
Abstract: A technique is described for stiffening a biomass comprising mycelia fungi used for retention of heavy metal ions. The procedure involves dispersing a dry or native mycelium strain in a non-polar dispersion medium, agglomerating the resultant dispersion by adding a stiffening component and a surface active agent, and catalyzing the agglomerated mixture to yield stiffened granules.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 22, 1976
Date of Patent: January 10, 1978
Assignee: Ceskoslovenska komise pro atomovou energii
Inventors: Vaclav Votapek, Eduard Marval, Rudolf Jilek, Karel Stamberg
  • Patent number: 4021368
Abstract: Biomasses of mycelia of microorganisms, particularly of fibrous fungi used for retention of metal ions from solutions, particularly of uranium, radium, lead and similar are stiffened by adding polymerizable components to them by polymerization, and the product is subsequently mechanically granulated. The granulated product is then employed in cyclically repeated sorption processing of heavy metal ions by contacting it with solutions of such metals.

    Filed: January 20, 1975
Date of Patent: May 3, 1977
Assignee: Ceskoslovenska komise pro atomovou energii Praha

  • Patent number: 3993558
Abstract: Separation of fission and corrosion products and of corresponding stable isotopes from liquid waste. Mycelia of fungi are used as sorbents for retaining said products on their surface and within their pores; the invention includes methods of activation or regeneration of the sorbent.
