  • Patent number: 4662574
Abstract: The thread reserve forming device employs a pivotally mounted part which cooperates with a second part to position a yarn in three positions in order to form a yarn reserve while also overlapping a tail extending from the yarn reserve towards an original clamping force.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 25, 1985
Date of Patent: May 5, 1987
    Assignee: Rieter Machine Works, Ltd.
    Inventors: Walter Slavik, Rudolf Luz
  • Patent number: 4603818
Abstract: The yarn handling machine employs a bobbin gripper which engages a bobbin positioned at a collection position and moves the bobbin to a transfer location whereat the bobbin is transferred into a cradle mechanism. Both the bobbin gripper and cradle mechanism are moved together to position the bobbin at a winding position. During the latter phase of movement, the bobbin gripper pivots on a carrier arm to accommodate the joint motion of the gripper and cradle mechanism.

Date of Patent: August 5, 1986
    Assignee: Rieter Machine Works, Ltd.
    Inventors: Rudolf Luz, Gunter Gartner
  • Patent number: 4595151
Abstract: The bobbin gripper employs a pair of roller assemblies which are skewed relative to the axis of the bobbin carried by the gripper in order to impose an axial force on the bobbin. The force is used to press the bobbin towards one arm of the cradle mechanism when the mechanism is reopened for yarn clamping. The thread reserve forming device employs a pivotally mounted part which cooperates with a second part to position a yarn in three positions in order to form a yarn reserve while also overlapping a tail extending from the yarn reserve towards an original clamping force.

  • Patent number: 4528808
Abstract: Prior to the actual splicing process, a preparation process is carried out in a preparation apparatus. The apparatus comprises a preparation tube having one or more circumferentially arranged air jet nozzles. The axis of each nozzle is inclined to the axis of the preparation tube and has a mouthpiece at the inlet end. The yarn end to be prepared is introduced into the preparation tube, where it is separated by the air jet emanating from the mouth piece and is spread apart.

  • Patent number: 4432194
Abstract: A splicing head has a turbulence chamber which is circular in cross section. The turbulence chamber is cylindrical or has a cylindrical center portion and conical outwardly enlarging end portion, and an insertion slot. Air inlet passages open into the cylindrical portion along tangents and in opposite directions so that air under pressure through the passages creates circumferential flow in opposite directions. Air is supplied alternately to the two passages, creating oppositely alternating air currents in the chamber, thereby twisting and joining thread ends inserted through the slot into the chamber without having overtwisted or untwisted portions.

  • Patent number: 4044961
Abstract: To permit isolation of individual spooling units from a multiple-unit machine, in case of necessity of repair or the like, a common drive shaft extends through the machine which has individual clutch units thereon, controlling rotation of respective gears which, in turn, transmit power to the individual spooling units, that is, to their traverse as well as to their drive elements. The drive elements, or at least portions thereof, form single replaceable units, preferably secured to the cover of an oil pan providing lubrication for the mechanism of the driving and spooling units, the clutches being operated by external engagement, for example by tightening down a pin securing the cover in place on the machine.
