  • Patent number: 5015421
Abstract: In the representative embodiments of diffusion devices disclosed in the specification, a diffusor support member and a flexible sheet-like diffusor are connected in sealing relation along peripheral edges by continuous clamping and sealing arrangements. One form of the clamping and sealing arrangement comprises a U-shaped clamp which embraces the edge of the support member and the peripheral edge of the diffusor. In another form of clamping and sealing arrangement, two strip members held apart by a third strip are inserted into a groove in the support member so as to clamp the diffusor in the groove. Additional strengthening members for the support member and hold-down members for the diffusor are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4624781
Abstract: An air diffusion device for aerating water with small bubbles, such as for use in clarification ponds, has a perforated air diffusion foil mounted above a tight backing plate. Cross strips are fixed above the foil. The foil is joined tightly at its edges to the solid plate by means of edge strips; cross strips are joined directly to the backing plate. Ballast inlays, preferably extending crosswise, are mounted at intervals in the solid plate to increase the weight of the device.

  • Patent number: 4005716
Abstract: A device for manually forming a plug of tobacco and ejecting the plug into a cigarette tube includes a housing defining a chamber for receiving loose tobacco and a press bar for compressing the tobacco into a cylindrical plug. The press bar is slid horizontally in the chamber by means of a toggle lever system including a handle pivotally mounted at one end in the housing, and pivotally connected to the end of the press bar remote from the tobacco by a lever, which is pivotally connected to the handle and press bar. After forming the plug, the latter is ejected by means of a slide including a lug extending into the chamber at one end through a slot. A spoon on the inner end of the lug engages one end of the plug and, by moving the lug along the slot, the plug is forced into a cigarette tube mounted on a tube on one side of the housing.
