  • Patent number: 11596520
Abstract: A shoulder prosthesis includes a humeral portion and a scapular portion, each having an osseointegrable component and an articular component. The osseointegrable component in the humeral portion includes a humeral body produced as a semicircular asymmetrical cage having a proximal circular ring base facing the scapular portion and an eccentric distal cylindrical base in opposite position, which are connected by arms having one or more holes for favoring the growth of bone tissue and facilitating anchorage to the bone, the proximal circular ring base being configured to be interchangeably coupled with the articular component for an anatomical prosthesis or a concave insert for a reverse prosthesis. The osseointegrable component in the scapular portion includes a glenoid base-plate of asymmetric form for coupling to an articular component, such as a concave glenoid insert, for an anatomical prosthesis or a glenosphere for a reverse prosthesis.

  • Patent number: 9181896
Abstract: A bearing bushing for a connecting rod and a combination of a connecting rod and a bearing bushing are provided. The connecting rod has a small end which includes a bearing bore. A first region of the bearing bore, which in operation is subjected to compressive loading, is longer than a second region of the bearing bore which is subjected to tensile loading. In order to modify a bearing bushing and a connecting rod so that with simple production and optimized weight the connecting rod has good bearing properties for the piston pin, the bearing bushing already has, before insertion thereof into the bearing bore, a shape adapted to the end edge contour of the bearing bore, wherein the first region of the bearing bushing is likewise longer than the second region thereof. A method of producing such a small end is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7159675
Abstract: A method of drilling a borehole in an earth formation wherein a plurality of selected solid magnetisable particles is inserted into the borehole, the particles being susceptible of forming a filter cake layer at the borehole wall and being made of a material susceptible of being exposed to magnetic forces when subjected to a magnetic field. A section of the borehole is drilled, and at least part of the filter-cake layer is removed from the wall of the drilled borehole section by inducing a selected magnetic field in the borehole. The magnetic field exerts magnetic forces to the particles, thereby withdrawing the particles from the wall.

  • Patent number: 6004700
Abstract: Membrane masks for electron-beam lithography are described which have a high mechanical stability and low membrane thickness, are free of stress and the submicron structures of which are easy to produce using reactive ion etching methods without rounding effects. In the case of a membrane mask for structuring surface areas with the aid of electron or corpuscular beams, a layer 1 of silicon nitride with going right through openings, which define the mask pattern, is deposited on one surface of a semiconductor wafer 2, which consists preferably of silicon. A tub-shaped recess 3 extends from the other surface of the semiconductor wafer 2 as far as the layer-carrying surface.A further mask for structuring surface areas with the aid of electron beams has at least one continuous layer 30 and a layer 31 defining the mask pattern. These two layers are deposited on the surface of a semiconductor wafer 32 with a tub-shaped recess 33.

  • Patent number: 5241231
Abstract: In large electric machines, the electrical connection between the exciter supply lead (7, 8), which extends axially in the center of the rotor, and the exciter winding conductors (4) in the winding overhang (3) of the rotor is highly stressed electrically and mechanically. If use is made of an elastic exciter terminal stud (13) made from steel, and the connecting conductors (17, 18) are supported between the exciter terminal stud (13) and the conductors (4) of the rotor winding overhang on the rotor cap, preferably on its cap plate (6), excessive stresses occur neither on the shaft (2) nor on the connecting conductors (17, 18). It is preferable in this arrangement to make use of a terminal stud (13) that is slotted in the longitudinal direction of the stud and has at least three slots. Such a stud is elastic transversely to its longitudinal direction and can be purposively cooled.

  • Patent number: 4066097
Abstract: Apparatus for forming plastic melts into strands or filaments wherein molten plastic material is delivered by a pump from a container through a feed line to a distributor means which has a first outlet for the molten plastic material to be processed and a second outlet to a return line leading back to the container, and a control valve is located in the return line to regulate the return of flow of the plastic material to the container, the return flow of the plastic material to the container, the return line and associated controls functioning to avoid undesirable plugging of the apparatus or damage to the plastic materials during interruptions in operations, and the like.

  • Patent number: 4001966
Abstract: A container for a growing media, e.g. compost, is disclosed as for use in the production of mushrooms. A plurality of individual container sections with the upper end open, having a depth generally in excess of 20 inches and a width under 16 inches, are affixed together in critically spaced-apart relationship to hold quantities of media. A peripheral, confining wall is provided above the container sections for supporting a common layer defining a continuous bed surface. As disclosed, the structure is fabricated of steel-wire mesh affixed to a frame of beam and column supports, and is lined, as with plastic film. Also as disclosed, a plurality of bed structures are affixed in stacked, spaced-apart tray configurations, for economy of space and handling.

  • Patent number: 3968955
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for continuously and controllably proportioning the components of a vulcanizable mixture in a screw extruding machine having at least one screw shaft and comprising a first inlet and at least one second inlet to the working region of the screw shaft or shafts, the screw shaft or shafts being rotated at constant speed and a back-pressure generating stage being arranged in the said working region, the features of the method being (1) that one component (preferably the main bulk component) of the feed that is to be mixed is introduced into the first inlet in an undosable condition (for instance in the form of plates, slabs or of a non-flowable bulk form) but at a rate controlled by the back pressure produced by the back-pressure generating stage, the latter being located at a given distance away from, and on the down-stream side of, the first inlet as well as upstream in relation to the second or a further inlet, through which an additive material is preferably fed in measured quantity
