  • Patent number: 5333651
Abstract: The binding of free weft thread ends at the exit of the weft thread insertion channel in an air weaving loom, into the fabric edge, is to be avoided. For this purpose it is necessary to straighten out the turbulent weft thread ends. The straightening is accomplished by a blowing nozzle that directs its air stream onto the free weft thread ends in a direction substantially defined by the fabric withdrawal. The auxiliary nozzle is arranged in an auxiliary reed section used for forming an auxiliary selvage. Such a blowing nozzle may be combined with a nozzle for stretching the weft thread end.

  • Patent number: 4951717
Abstract: An air jet weaving loom is equipped with an expander table and has a weaving reed forming a weft thread insertion channel. The expander table has an extension reaching toward the channel and preferably to about the center of the channel. The extension has a top surface which forms an elongation of a fabric supporting surface of the expander table. This arrangement assures that the beat-up or interlacing point is always located about centrally in the weft thread insertion channel.

  • Patent number: 4919172
Abstract: The weft thread or weft threads in an air nozzle loom are plied into multi-strand weft threads directly in the loom. For this purpose one or several plying devices are arranged directly in the loom between a plurality of weft thread strand supply spools or cross-wound bobbins and the multi-ply weft thread insertion nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4905741
Abstract: A pneumatic loom having at least two blow nozzles arranged in a bundle, is equipped with a weft thread insertion alignment device (2) located in a fixed position between the blow nozzles and the weft thread guide channel formed by the reed teeth. The alignment device (2) has an alignment slot having a funnel-shape receiving the weft threads at a wide inlet opening and leading the weft threads to a narrower outlet opening. The alignment slot extends along at least a portion of the path followed by the reed teeth on their beat-up motion. One end of the alignment slot is open toward the weft thread cutting scissors for exit of the weft threads. Weft threads waste is kept very low by the location of all relevant components close to each other. The effectiveness of the scissors is not impaired at all. The time available for the weft thread insertion is increased which means that the r.p.m. of the loom can be increased.

  • Patent number: 4787422
Abstract: A profiled weaving reed, especially for shuttleless looms with pneumatic weft thread insertion, has profiled reed teeth which are so deformed along the path of weft thread insertion that a first deformation forms an edge slanted in the direction of weft thread insertion while a further deformation on the opposite side of the respective reed tooth is slanted in the opposite direction. The first deformations may, for example, have a bent edge. The first and further deformations of all individual reed teeth form, over the width of the reed a type of groove or throat in which the weft thread is guided. The deformations prevent or greatly reduce an air loss through the reed and improve the air flow transporting the weft thread.
