  • Patent number: 9584840
Abstract: Media content may include one or more advertisements for a product or a company, and such an advertisement may display a visual object (e.g., a logo) of an advertiser. An advertisement impact machine accesses media content, where the media content includes a frame within which the visual object is depicted. The advertisement impact machine accesses a viewer count that represents a number of viewers of the media content. The advertisement impact machine determines a duration during which the visual object is presented within the media content. The advertisement impact machine determines an impact factor based on the duration and on the viewer count. The impact factor may then be provided by the advertisement impact machine as a numerical score indicating a degree of effectiveness of an advertisement that includes the visual object within the media content.

  • Patent number: 6891897
Abstract: The evolution of high rate data services within future wireless networks will call for new RF access technologies to enable substantial increases in overall system spectral efficiency at an acceptably low cost to the user. Space-Time Coding (STC) is an antenna array processing technology currently simulating considerable Interest across the wireless industry. The invention provides a space-time coding apparatus having an input, a trellis encoder, a modulator, a demultiplexer, and a set of signal outputs wherein the input is operable to receive a stream of data. This allows de-multiplexing to take place after coding and modulation has been performed. The trellis encoder comprises a convolutional encoder operable to sequentially group data to provide coded bits to provide QPSK symbols. By the selection of convolutional encoder rates and/or modulation alphabets STCs of any desired dimensionality may be produced including multi-dimensional codes.

  • Patent number: 5455363
Abstract: Compounds of formula I are described, ##STR1## wherein n is equal to one or two, R.sub.1 stands for hydrogen or an amino protecting group, R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or a carboxyl protecting group and R.sub.3 4-methyltriphenylmethyl, 4,4'-dimethyltriphenylmethyl, 4,4',4"-trimethyltriphenylmethyl. Furthermore described are compounds of formula I which are reactive and suitable for coupling reactions and are derived from I with R.sub.2 =H by activation of the carboxyl group. The compounds mentioned above can be used as starting materials for the synthesis of peptides. They are more suitable than analogous compounds of formula I, wherein R.sub.3 represents hydrogen or a carbamoyl protecting group used hitherto.
