  • Patent number: 6315860
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a device for the manufacturing of a glued block made of triangular cross-sectioned elongated staves of wood. The staves of wood are laid beside each other with alternate staves with their base sides downwards and alternate ones with their base sides upwards, and adhesive applied between adjoining surfaces between the staves. A press (13, 14, 21-33) applies main pressure force to glue the staves firmly together is transverse to the base sides of the staves.

  • Patent number: 6176018
Abstract: A measuring machine produces an essentially linear movement in a moving part by transforming rotary movement to linear movement through a transmission element having a high modulus of elasticity in a longitudinal direction, and which is flexible in a transverse direction. The transmission element has two ends which are each fastened to the same mechanical element, and the transmission element is given a pre-stress which is greater than a maximum force encountered during acceleration while the machine is in use.

  • Patent number: 5721618
Abstract: The invention relates to measuring apparatus for measuring the dimensions of a large object with the aid of a narrow optical measuring beam directed onto a number of measuring points. A hit indicator unit is placed in connection with each measuring point. The apparatus includes rail which can be placed adjacent the object to measured and which carries a measuring carriage which is movable along the rail and which directs the direct the narrow optical measuring beam at an angle relative to the measuring path in an object reference plane. The carriage is moved rectilinearly along the rail. Each hit indicator unit coacts with an indicating arrangement which automatically indicates a hit by measuring beam. The carriage is provided with an automatically indicating rail-position sensor and the indications given by the sensor are read-off with each automatic hit indication through the medium of the indicating arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5686995
Abstract: A scale pattern is placed in close proximity of a measuring point whose position is to be determined in at least one dimension with the aid of a narrow measuring beam which moves in one place and sweeps over the scale pattern as it moves. The scale pattern is such that an indicating arrangement which indicates impingement of the measuring beam on the scale pattern gives rise to different signal patterns from a beam detector (25) for different heights at which the measuring beam sweeps over the scale pattern. The scale pattern has reflective and non-reflective pattern parts. Each scale pattern includes part-patterns (63, 64; 84, 85; 90, 91; 102, 105) which are operative in providing time or position scale-calibration for the signal pattern obtained from the beam detector (25) as the measuring beam sweeps over the scale pattern.

  • Patent number: 5326982
Abstract: The invention relates to an analogue sensor for sensing deviation from a normal position in at least two directions. The sensor senses dimensions in at least one direction and for this purpose it has a ball (52) at the tip of a measuring stick (51), which is resiliently mounted in such a manner that it can move essentially about a center. It is the deviation of the tip from its normal position which is to be indicated. The stick has a sensor portion (8, 9; 54, 55; 71, 72) placed in a sensor unit, in such a manner that the sensor portion, upon external displacing force upon the measuring tip in any direction can be advanced from a normal position, essentially about a central point (CM; CM') and is returnable to the normal position by means of a force device (3; 21; 30; 53; 73; FIGS. 7A-7C, FIGS. 9A, 9B). The advancement from the normal position about the central point is indicated to provide a measure of the deviation.

Abstract: An arrangement for one-man surveying, including a measuring station (1) and a target unit (2). A sighting-marker arrangement is provided which can be indicated by an indicator arrangement (7) on the measuring station. The measuring station (1) automatically takes a target seeking mode when the indicator arrangement (7) does not indicate the sighting-marker arrangement and a target following mode, when the indicator arrangement indicates the sighting-marker arrangement. The sighting-marker arrangement includes a combination of a first and a second sighting-marker unit. The first unit has a light source (8) on the target unit (2). The second unit has a light source (9) on the measuring station (1) and a reflector (11) on the target unit (2).

  • Patent number: 4880212
Abstract: The device has a lance. The lance is moved towards said molten bath level. An antenna is provided at a downward end of the lance for coaction with the slag interface (interfaces), when the lance is moved towards the slag interface (interfaces). A sensitive detection circuit is connected to said antenna. The antenna is during its downward movement capacitively coupled to said slag layer, and the detection circuit detects a predetermined impedance change (predetermined impedance changes) at the antenna provided as it is moved towards the interface (interfaces).

  • Patent number: 4837717
Abstract: A measuring device measures the width of trees and other vertically disposed objects at a distance from these objects. An aiming instrument cites various points along the object and measures a distance to the object as well as provides a signal proportional to a plumb line angle sensor, a signal proportional to a horizontal angle device, and a distance measuring signal. A computer coupled to the aiming instrument will compute the diameter of the trees or other vertically disposed objects from the distance signal, angle sensor signal and horizontal angle device.

  • Patent number: 4339664
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of registering the tophography and height level of the charged mass in a blast furnace. A distance meter for measurement by means of direct reflection against the surface is placed in the vicinity of the top of the blast furnace, appropriately at an inspection window located there. The distance meter is equipped with an aiming device with which the measuring direction of the distance meter is aimable at selected parts of the surface of the charged mass. A computing unit such as a micro- or minicomputer calculates, on the basis of the siting of the distance meter, the set angles of the aiming device for measurement direction and the results of performed distance measurements, calculates the positions for the different measuring points and presents these in analog or digital form.

  • Patent number: 4015118
Abstract: A method and circuit for controlling the amplification in a radiation-detecting avalanche diode in which the diode generates electrical signals dependent upon the received radiation. These electrical signals are fed to evaluating means and a control signal is derived from the diode having a frequency which differs from the frequency used in the evaluation means. The amplitude of the control signal is compared with a preset value and the supply voltage of the diode is varied in dependence upon this comparison for controlling amplification of the diode.

  • Patent number: 3985448
Abstract: A measuring device is disclosed which can measure an angle or length and which employs either an angle or length measuring plate. The angle or length measuring plate has thereon at least one measuring scale which has a regular pattern along the majority of the lengths thereof and an irregular pattern on two portions thereof. A light beam shines through an optical system to pass through the measuring scale at two points and from there into a photo-detector. The light path is arranged to pass through the two irregular portions at the same time. Several embodiments of the irregular patterns are shown. A circuit is also shown to detect the irregular portions and employ it as a reference signal.
