  • Publication number: 20060054374
Abstract: A friction wheel drive for an internal combustion engine's a unit belt drive for a secondary unit includes a control system, a friction wheel that engages frictionally with an outer side of a belt in a wrap-around portion of a drive wheel of the internal combustion engine and that is controlled by the control system to engage or disengage frictionally with a drive wheel of the secondary unit, and a guidance system having an arc section for guiding the movement of the friction wheel with the control system. The arc section is arranged equidistant from the axis of rotation of the drive or driven wheel relative to the driven wheel to the outside of the belt in the wrap-around portion for turning the secondary unit on and off.

  • Publication number: 20060042245
Abstract: An exhaust turbocharger with a housing, a compressor arranged in a compressor space and an exhaust turbine is arranged in a turbine space, whereby an exhaust line from the turbine outlet is connected to a low-pressure side of the compressor space via an exhaust recirculation line which extends through the housing and is designed largely in a spiral form in the housing. The recirculated exhaust gas flow arrangements improve the dynamics by providing higher turbocharger rotational speeds in the partial load range due to the production of a pre-twist by the exhaust recirculation stream.

  • Publication number: 20050215392
Abstract: A belt drive for a secondary unit of an internal combustion engine includes a friction wheel drive having a friction wheel, a cam device for adjusting the engagement of the friction wheel to the drive wheel of the secondary unit, the cam device having a cam, a swivel arm by which the friction wheel is connected to the cam which is rotationally mounted on a side of the engine, and a spring biasing the swivel arm in a tension direction. The friction wheel is in permanent position of frictional engagement with a drive wheel of the secondary unit to drive the secondary unit and with an outside of a belt on a drive wheel of the internal combustion engine or of another secondary unit.

  • Patent number: 6599209
Abstract: A tensioning device for tensioning a traction medium, especially a chain, is provided. The tensioning device includes a supporting body element attachable to a third object and at least one tensioning track capable of being applied against the traction medium. The supporting body element and the tensioning track being joined together as one piece.

  • Patent number: 6435723
Abstract: For a machine housing with a split bearing arrangement, particularly journal bearing in piston machines, with a bearing cover clampably arranged via corresponding profiles on a bearing block, it is proposed that a bearing cover having a profile in its clamping face and acting as the tool electrode be used to produce by an electrical discharge machining process a corresponding profile in the clamping face of the bearing block of the machine housing serving as the workpiece electrode in order to achieve an advantageous formation of the profile. After the electrical discharge machining process, the bearing cover is mounted to the bearing block.

  • Patent number: 6431759
Abstract: A split bearing arrangement in a machine housing, particularly a crankshaft journal bearing for piston machines. The split bearing arrangement including a bearing block and a bearing cover that are made of materials of different hardnesses. In order to provide a material anchoring between the bearing cover and the bearing block that can be subjected to high loads and is cost-effective to produce, the bearing arrangement provides the bearing cover, which is made of an iron material, with cutting-edge like projections protruding above its clamping faces and, furthermore, provides grooves in the corresponding clamping faces of the bearing cover and the bearing block. These grooves in an initial mounting of the bearing cover with the required force serve to receive the material of the bearing block that is displaced in the pressing-in process when the projections are pressed into the opposite clamping faces of the bearing block, which is made of a light metal.
