  • Patent number: 4223671
Abstract: An endotracheal tube stabilizer avoids the pain of repeatedly stripping tape from the face of a patient, which affixes an endotracheal tube in position, and avoids damage caused by continuous pressure on one spot of a patient's mouth and teeth on a bite block by providing a faceplate held in position by strands around the head, a wide slot in the faceplate and a mouthpiece slidable to selected positions along the slot. Thus the tube may be adhesive taped to the mouthpiece but the mouthpiece and its taped tube may be slid sidewise in the slot when deemed necessary for the welfare and comfort of the patient.

  • Patent number: 4169479
Abstract: An endocardial lead, includes an elongated, tapered guide of non-conductive plastic in front of the exposed metal electrode which normally would form the free terminal tip of the lead. The tapered front guide eases the insertion of the catheter into a vein, and flexes into a curve which approaches the right angular when engaging the wall of the right ventricle chamber of the heart while positioning the exposed metal electrode in the apex of the chamber. The guide thus prevents the electrode from piercing the wall and its angularly bent or curved configuration tends to prevent dislodgement of the electrode from the apex.

  • Patent number: 4094321
Abstract: To avoid irritation, infection or rejection caused by relatively sharp corner edges, protruding catheter connection heads and squat cylinder shapes of pacemakers implanted in a skin pocket in a human body, a pacemaker of circular outline and shallow, dome-shape with a substantially flat bottom is provided. Catheter storage means is contained in the surface of the flat bottom and comprises a system of helical and radial grooves for releasably receiving any extra length of catheter. The dome-shaped pacer includes a prong socket within its confines and angled toward the bottom grooves and a thrust screw for dislodging the prong.

  • Patent number: 3980080
Abstract: An air filtration unit of the type having a liquid filtration medium in a canister with air entering below the level of the liquid, bubbling up into an upper air chamber and thence conducted to a face mask, is simplified for use not only in sedentary occupations but so that it can be used by workmen in strenuous occupations requiring leaning over, lying down, etc. One way valves assure that only scrubbed air enters the face mask, the mask is peripherally sealed and float, or gravity, valves prevent leakage into the mask, or out of the canister, when the unit is in abnormal position. In non-portable form, air filtration masks, peripherally sealed on the wearer's face have a common air chamber with air drawn thereinto from outisde the pollution environment.
