    Abstract: A preassembled fastener assembly having a washer axially captivated on a threaded screw. The washer includes an elongated cylindrical sleeve, a radially outwardly directed flange and at least two inwardly extending detents within the sleeve to yieldably engage a shoulder on the threaded screw to hold the parts together. The detents are provided with elongated flattened inwardly extending surfaces. When assembled, the screw tip extends substantially outward of the washer sleeve and beyond the grommet. Methods of forming the detents are disclosed.
