Abstract: A method for signaling a transfer of a voice call communicated between a wireless device and a second device from a first access point to a second access point in a wireless network, the second device coupled to the first and second access points through a server, the method comprising: receiving at the server from the wireless device a message indicative of a pending transfer between the first and second access points, wherein the wireless device determines whether to send the message by monitoring a characteristic of signals received from each of the first and second access points; and, sending from the server to the second device a message indicative of the pending transfer to thereby prepare the second device for a possible interruption of the voice call.

Abstract: An Access Point (AP) advertises the availability of notifications, and this advertisement may be received and interpreted by stations (STAs), both by associated STAs and by non-associated STAs. Upon being informed of the availability of the notification message, a STA may be able to identify the notification message by analyzing the advertisement. If the contents of the notification message comprise a control message, the STA may act on the control message in a way that influences the STA's behavior. If the contents of the notification message indicate restrictions imposed by the AP, the STA may determine, in view of the restrictions, not to attempt association with the AP.

An IT policy can be generated that applies to a group of users or to one or more special users without having to define and store a new IT policy for each special user. This can be achieved by specifying global and per-user IT policy rules and merging these rules as needed to produce IT policy data. The IT policy can also be used to configure settings associated with storing electronic messages on the devices.

Should the communication session degrade, rather than dropping the communication session the user of a device communicating with the mobile device is prompted to wait while an attempt is made to improve the quality of the communication session.
