  • Patent number: 6332704
Abstract: Shaker for liquids, especially dairy products such as half-and-half cream and milk. In known shakers cocktails are mixed by pouring different liquids into a bowl which has then inserted thereinto a bowl-shaped sifter filled with solids such as ice, lemon slices or cocoa. Although the ingredients of the cocktail are finely mixed with one another without lumping by shaking said shaker along its longitudinal axis, it is not possible to foam the liquids. The novel shaker makes it possible to foam liquid foodstuffs, especially milk, by simply shaking the same. The shaker is designed for foaming purposes in that a separation sifter is arranged in a direction substantially transverse to the vertical axis of the shaker so that the total volume of the closed bowl is subdivided by the separation sifter in a ratio of 2:1. The shaker is particularly suited for preparing cappuccino cream.

  • Patent number: 5824218
Abstract: The present invention relates to a permanent espresso filter insert for insertion into an espresso machine, the insert comprising a substantially flat filter disc which is penetrated by a plurality of filter openings substantially in the flow direction of the medium to be filtered, with a perforated disc being designed and arranged downstream of the filter disc in flow direction in such a manner that the medium to be filtered is swirled and deflected to an increased extent. With the permanent espresso filter insert of the invention, it is possible to improve the formation of the head or cream also in espresso machines having low working pressures.

  • Patent number: 5715741
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pot-shaped permanent filter insert for use in an espresso machine, the insert comprising a filter base plate which substantially forms the bottom of the pot and is penetrated by a plurality of filter openings substantially in the flow direction of the medium to be filtered and comprises a frame surrounding the filter base plate, and a pot wall which is substantially arranged on the edge of the filter base plate and transversely extends away from the filter base plate to form a coffee receiving portion, the permanent filter insert being made of a plurality of parts in that the lower edge portion of the pot wall is substantially secured to the outer edge of the filter base plate. Furthermore, the lower edge portion of the pot wall and the filter base plate are interconnected by an injection-molded plastic connection, a frame being injection-molded substantially around the outer edge of the filter base plate, interconnecting the frame and the filter base plate and the pot wall.
