  • Patent number: 6932151
Abstract: An auxiliary heater suitable for mobile applications and provided with a burner and a cup-shaped heat exchanger (10) which has a hollow cylindrical wall section (26, 48) with a first end area (16) facing the burner, a bottom section (24, 46) facing away from the burner, a heat transfer medium inlet (18), and a heat transfer medium outlet (20), by which, in operation of the auxiliary heater, a fluid heat transfer medium flows through the bottom section (24, 46) and the hollow cylindrical wall section (26, 48). In order to devise an auxiliary heater with has higher efficiency than known auxiliary heaters of the same size, both the heat transfer medium inlet (18) and heat transfer medium outlet (20) located on the first end area (16) of the heat exchanger (10).

  • Patent number: 4932834
Abstract: A ring channel blower in which, in the discharge area of the ring channel blower, a cross piece-shaped interrupter has a discharge side boundary edge that is configured such that between the inner edge of the ring channel and the facing edge of the respective vanes of the impeller as they pass thereover an angle of at least 25.degree. is initially enclosed and this angle increases gradually to 90.degree. when the intersection of the boundary edge and facing impeller vane edge is at the outer edge of the impeller. The discharge side boundary edge incorporates an inner end section that is approximately tangent to the inner edge of the ring channel and an outer end section that is approximately tangent to the outer edge of the impeller, and both of these tangent sections are connected to each other by a circular arc section.

  • Patent number: 4749338
Abstract: A side channel blower of the type used as a combustion air blower for motor vehicle heaters wherein a vaned impeller compresses air within a channel formed in a blower. The blower housing has an inlet opening and a discharge opening, between which there is a cross piece. In order to increase the compression pressure which can be achieved with the side channel blower, the inlet opening is in an axial plane and empties into the side channel in the direction of rotation of the impeller. Furthermore, the cross piece has a substantially uniform length in the circumferential direction of the flower and extends into close proximity to a boundary edge of the inlet opening that extends across the flow channel so that an axial projection of the inlet opening onto the plane of rotation of the impeller is as small as possible relative to the area of the inlet opening in the axial plane.

  • Patent number: 4688718
Abstract: An intermediate housing that is, preferably, developed as a cast part and combines several functions and objectives in itself. The intermediate housing not only houses a driving motor for a combustion air blower and a heating air fan, but the driving motor is also disposed by means of a circumferential support developed in the intermediate housing which, at the same time, serves as a stop during the mounting. By means of an elastic bearing of the driving motor, structure-born noise transmission can be avoided. On one side, a combustion air intake connection piece, a fuel supply pipe receiving opening and an exhaust gas outlet connection piece are integrally formed. For the mounting of the heater at a mounting arrangement, the intermediate housing also has passages for fastening screws that are accessible from the direction of the top side of the heater.
