  • Patent number: 7047435
Abstract: A method is provided for synchronizing distributed processors. The method comprises determining a desired number of offset values between two processors, wherein each processor comprises a quartz crystal, determining parameters of a regression line, wherein the regression line is a function of the offset values over the desired number of offsets, and adjusting a synchronization interval according to the parameters.

Date of Patent: May 16, 2006
    Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.
Inventors: Shih-Ping Liou, Ruediger Schollmeier, Kilian Heckrodt
  • Publication number: 20020147834
Abstract: A method for frame streaming using intelligent frame selection comprises ranking a plurality of frames according to a plurality of priorities. The method further comprises selecting, during a run-time, a frame for transmission over a network to a receiving client, wherein selecting the frame comprises determining a time of transmission, wherein the time of transmission is the time the frame will take to reach the receiving client. Selecting further comprises determining the frame's rank, determining a bandwidth over the network, and determining a current time.

  • Publication number: 20020112244
Abstract: There is provided a system for collaboratively delivering a video stream over a heterogeneous network. The video stream includes a plurality of frames. The system includes a session controller for synchronizing with client devices, receiving messages, and outputting encoder control commands based on the messages. The system further includes a plurality of encoders. Each encoder is dedicated to a corresponding one of the client devices for receiving user control commands from the corresponding one of the client devices that correspond to a playback of the video stream, outputting the messages based on the user control commands, and respectively controlling a transmission of the video stream to the corresponding one of the client devices using a shared timeline, including respectively and dynamically transmitting or discarding each of the plurality of frames so as to cooperatively maintain a minimum quality of service for all of the client devices.
