  • Patent number: 9019859
Abstract: A method for calibrating a listen duration and a listen interval and a control module thereof are provided. The method is suitable for being applied in a wireless device and monitoring beacons transmitted by a wireless access point (AP) within a wireless transmission range to calibrate the listen duration and the listen interval. The method includes: calculating an average beacon-receiving time and an RMS beacon-receiving time according to a beacon-receiving interval obtained within a first specific time frame when the listen duration and the listen interval are determined to be calibrated; setting the average beacon-receiving time and the RMS beacon-receiving time as an optimal listen interval and an optimal listen duration, respectively; monitoring beacons in X optimal listen durations according to the optimal listen interval and the optimal listen duration; if at least Y beacons are received, determining the calibration is successful, wherein X and Y are positive integers.

  • Patent number: 8688875
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a host electronic device including a main operating circuit, a first peripheral bus, an interface circuit, a second peripheral bus, and a conversion device. The interface circuit is coupled between the second peripheral bus and a host computer for receiving an external command form the host computer through a transmission protocol compatible with a first interface. The conversion device is coupled between the first and the second peripheral bus including an external virtual adapter, an internal virtual adapter, and a network channel. Furthermore, the conversion device encodes and decodes the external command, and produces a decoded external command. A processor of the main operating circuit executes the decoded external command, such that the main operating circuit implements a corresponding operation.

  • Publication number: 20080253344
Abstract: A wireless LAN medium access controller supporting mode change and the mode change method thereof are proposed. A physical layer detects signal strength in the environment and writes a mode index value of the stronger signal into a register. When the written mode index value is different from a mode index value in the communication system, a medium access controller is informed to perform mode change. The physical layer then sends out an interrupt signal to a central processor and sends the mode index value to the central processor for comparison via a DMA module and a memory. An interface module is used to access the mode index value in the memory for providing an external interface for the medium access control layer. When the mode index value doesn't conform to the signal in the environment, a software layer in the medium access controller is used for mode change.

  • Patent number: 7260728
Abstract: Disclosed is a windows-based power management method for optimally distributing power for various tasks in a portable device. The power management method includes the following steps: (a) categorizing each task to be executed by the portable device, (b) prescribing a power management policy, (c) distributing shares of a power supply unit among the tasks based on the category the tasks are associated therewith according to the power management policy, and (d) in response to the commands input by the user through a graphical user interface, increasing the share of the power supply unit provided for a task running within an active window of the portable device to accomplish an optimized distribution of power among tasks to be executed by the portable device.

  • Patent number: 6657981
Abstract: A network communication system is provided for communicating a wired subnet and a wireless subnet to solve the handover problems occurred in roaming. The system includes an IAPP manager program at a user level of the access point for communicating with a kernel-level device driver using system calls to perform an announce procedure and a handover procedure. A wireless LAN card driver with a packet filter is implemented for sending signals to the IAPP manager program to perform the handover procedure upon receiving a reassociation request packet from a mobile host. A wired LAN card driver is implemented for acting as an interface of the wired subnet. And a bridge program with a packet filter is implemented to increase the bandwidth efficiency.
