    Abstract: A canister-type vacuum cleaner is provided wherein the vacuum cleaner may be operated with the canister in either a horizontal or substantially upright position. When in the upright position, both vacuum and pressure effects are transmitted to a floor-cleaning device, whereby the cleaning efficiency of the floor-cleaning device is improved.
