  • Publication number: 20160270802
Abstract: The present invention discloses a guiding element and a guiding assembly for spinal drilling operation. The guiding element is configured to be dispose at a vertebra which comprises a lamina. The guiding element comprises a main body, two connection parts, and two locating parts. The main body has two stand portions and each of the stand portion comprises a clamping part. Each of the connection parts comprises a first end and a second end. The two first ends extends away from each other. Each locating part connects to each stand portion through each connection part. Each clamping part comprises two hook portions. Each side, which is configured to be in contact against the vertebra, of the hook portions has a curvature corresponding to the surface of the lamina, so that the main body is configured to be disposed at the lamina and across the vertebra through the hook portions.

  • Publication number: 20120245587
Abstract: A method for spinal drilling operation is disclosed. The method includes the steps of disposing a guiding element on a vertebra; mounting an auxiliary element on a locating part of the guiding element; mounting a k-pin on the auxiliary element; locating the k-pin and removing the auxiliary element from the locating part; mounting a cannular driller having a holding part and a drilling part through the k-pin; and rotating the holding part to drive the drilling part for a reaming process. A guiding assembly for spinal drilling operation is also disclosed. Accordingly, the spinal drilling process can be conducted easier and more precisely.

  • Publication number: 20090143788
Abstract: The invention is to provide a navigating method and system for drilling operation in spinal surgery. The method and system is applied to the subjects who receive pedicle insertion operation in spinal surgery. The specific vertebras are under radiography using X-ray machine at both anterior/posterior and lateral views. These imaging are then transmitted into a computer system for image distortion correction and registration. By drawing the safety regions of the pedicle on the indicated vertebra in both AP and Lat. images, three-dimensional safety volumes of the pedicle of the vertebra are developed by intersection operation. Therefore, prior to and during the clinical spine operation, surgeons are able to safe navigation by referring the referential orientation via the developed system.

  • Publication number: 20050101964
Abstract: Methods for performing spinal fusions using an injectable calcium phosphate-based bone substitute are provided. The injectable bone substitute is injected into the anterior portion of an interbody space and allowed to solidify in vivo. The injectable bone substitute has a minimum compression strength of 10 MPa after setting for about 30 minutes and preferably solidifies to a compression strength of 25 MPa within 24 hours of injection. Optionally, the posterior portion of the interbody space is fixed using a metallic implant selected from rods and pedicle screws or plates and pedicle screws by attachment thereof to adjacent vertebrae.
