  • Publication number: 20240121626
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a primary cell, an indication of a capability to synchronize with a secondary cell based on measurements of the primary cell. A UE may estimate a propagation delay (tp) and an angle of arrival (AoA) of the secondary cell based on a synchronization signal block (SSB) or a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) transmitted by the primary cell. A UE may perform automatic gain control (AGC), fine timing synchronization, and fine frequency synchronization of the secondary cell based on a temporary aperiodic tracking reference signal (A-TRS) transmitted by the secondary cell. A UE may perform a receive beam sweep on a burst of a CSI-RS transmitted by the secondary cell, wherein a range of the receive beam sweep is based on the estimated AoA.

  • Patent number: 11943795
Abstract: Wireless communications systems may support identification or determination of a common default beam for a component carrier (CC) group (e.g., such that all CCs of a CC group may be associated with a same default beam). For example, a CC group may be configured or established to include one or more CCs (e.g., for carrier aggregation), where each CC group may share a same analog beamformer. As such, a beam (e.g., a default uplink/downlink beam) may be established as default or common across CCs of a CC group (e.g., versus default beams being configured or established for individual CCs). Such an established default beam of a CC group (e.g., a default beam common to all CCs of a CC group) may include or refer to a default downlink shared channel beam, a default sounding reference signal (SRS) beam, a default downlink control channel beam, etc.

  • Patent number: 11743880
Abstract: A base station may receive from a user equipment (UE) a proactive notification that the UE will perform a beam switch from a first UE beam to a second UE beam. In response, the base station may determine a beam switch slot on which the UE will perform the synchronized beam switch, and perform a link transient mitigation operation for communications with the UE after UE beam switch and until updating channel state information associated with a new UE beam. The base station may then receive from the UE channel state information feedback for a channel associated with the second UE beam, and adjust downlink data transmission parameters to be aligned with the second UE beam based on the received channel state information feedback (CSF). The base station may also adjust uplink data transmission parameters based on a sounding reference signal transmitted by the UE over the second UE beam.

  • Patent number: 11736180
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to devices, systems and methods for multi-beam formation. A user equipment (UE) may determine a sampling interval for references signals to be transmitted by a base station for an upcoming control or data communication. For example, the UE may determine a maximum sampling interval tolerable for channel estimation and select the sampling interval based on the maximum. In some examples, the UE determines the sampling interval based on characteristics of its motion. The UE transmits an indication of the sampling interval to the base station. Based on the indication, the base station selects an interval for the reference signals and transmits the reference signals to the UE to enable it to perform the channel estimation for the multi-beam. The base station may determine to select the interval for the reference signals such that it is less than or equal to the sampling interval indicated by the UE.

The first quantity of measurement occasions may be based on a channel quality metric observed for a prior beam during a prior beam sweeping occasion. The UE may select a first beam to monitor for a first paging message during the first paging occasion based on respective channel quality metrics observed for multiple beams during the first quantity of measurement occasions. Further, the UE may monitor for the first paging message during the first paging occasion using the first beam.
