    Abstract: A polarization camera that includes a pixelated waveplate positioned to receive light. The pixelated waveplate includes an array of super-pixels comprising birefringent structures. Each super-pixel comprises a first at least one sub-pixel comprising a quarter-wave plate and a second at least one sub-pixel comprising a half-wave plate. A non-pixelated polarizer receives light from the pixelated waveplate. A detector detects light received from the polarizer.

    Abstract: Apparatuses and associated methods of manufacturing are described that provide for an anti-bacterial fiber. The method of manufacturing includes adding a ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene structure into an extrusion device. The method of manufacturing also includes providing an anti-bacterial low-density polyethylene (LDPE) into the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene at a predetermined temperature to create a combined filament. The method of manufacturing further includes passing the combined filament through a bath. The bath is configured for coagulating the combined filament and extracting a solvent. The method of manufacturing still further includes drying the combined filament via an oven. The method of manufacturing also includes hot-drawing the combined filament. The combined filament is heated during the hot-drawing within the oven and the combined filament generated has anti-bacterial qualities. A corresponding anti-bacterial fiber is also provided.

The first and second layered films are configured so that the window has favorable antireflective and transmission attributes in an infrared wavelength range of interest, while providing relatively low reflectance and transmittance in the visible spectrum to provide a dark appearance and low signal noise.

    Abstract: A preparation method for heterogeneous Mg alloys bar with high elastic modulus. It provides a preparation method of solid-liquid composite casting in a specific mold to produce the heterostructured metallic bars composed of high elastic modulus metal and low elastic modulus Mg alloy. Subsequently, the microstructure of heterogeneous Mg alloys bars is adjusted by the specific deformation and heat treatment. Heterogeneous Mg alloys bars without oxide inclusions and with good interfacial bonding were prepared through this method. The improvement of elastic modulus is obtained by tailoring the heterogeneous microstructure.

    Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to an enhanced auxetic composite material (EACM) of a base thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and/or a thermoset material combined with an auxetic material, the composite formed with a molding process, where the base material is injected or dripped into or injected, dripped or formed around the auxetic material, the composite material providing higher impact performance than the individual materials. In an illustrative example, combining various energy absorbing materials with auxetic materials may further enhance impact performance. In some examples, TPE material injected into auxetic structures may fill internal voids. In some examples, the auxetic material may be suspended within the TPE material and be encapsulated around the auxetic material form. Auxetic materials may take various forms, for example, sheets, 3-D structures, and particles, each providing unique benefits.

    Abstract: A physical simulation method for a forging process of a nickel-base superalloy includes: subjecting a nickel-base superalloy sample to heating, heat preservation, and quenching successively to obtain a pretreated sample; and subjecting the pretreated sample to heating, first heat preservation, cooling, repeated compression-cooling treatments, second heat preservation, and quenching successively to obtain a simulated sample, where the compression-cooling treatments are repeated at least three times. In the physical simulation method, multi-pass compression-cooling deformation is adopted to simulate a forging process of a nickel-base superalloy, and this forging simulation method is close to an actual forging process, has an excellent simulation effect and high operability, and involves simple operations. The physical simulation method is suitable for a variety of nickel-base superalloys of a same forging method.
