Abstract: A method for a device to update an electronic document includes obtaining data update information and use record information of the electronic document, the data update information including a first position in the electronic document where an updating is to be performed, the use record information including a second position; determining whether the first position in the data update information is before the second position in the use record information; adjusting the use record information according to the data update information, if it is determined that the first position in the data update information is before the second position in the use record information; and updating the electronic document according to the data update information and the adjusted use record information.

Abstract: A method for processing data of a scanned book having a plurality of pages is disclosed. The method includes obtaining page image data from a page. The method further includes segmenting and recognizing the page image data to obtain locations of rectangular boxes corresponding to the respective characters and text codes for the respective characters. The method also includes obtaining respective aggregated character line information for each line of characters. The method further includes adjusting the rectangular boxes in accordance with the obtained aggregated character line information.

Abstract: An embedded font processing method and device. Searching for an advance characteristic information corresponding to each embedded font in an original font library. Selecting, for each embedded font, at least one piece of the advance characteristic information as a key characteristic information that corresponds to the embedded font. All of the fonts corresponding to the key characteristic information are identified and a candidate font collection is generated therefrom. The font type that completely matches the embedded font in the candidate font collection is identified.

Abstract: A technique for identifying font in connection with text data processing. An original font corresponding to an embedded font used in an electronic document is identified. At least one glyph is selected from a glyph collection of the embedded font. The font corresponding to each selected glyph is identified, and the original font corresponding to the embedded font is identified according to the font that corresponds to each selected glyph.
