  • Publication number: 20090221874
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for creating a three-dimensional model of a surface comprising a light source 1.2 that projects a pattern of continuous line segments onto the surface, wherein each line segment is coded with a unique pattern along the line segment, a detector 1.3 that records an image of the surface with said projected pattern, and a computer for transforming said image to a three-dimensional model of the surface utilizing said projected pattern.

  • Publication number: 20090220916
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for obtaining an accurate three-dimensional model of a dental impression, said method comprising the steps of, scanning at least a part of an upper jaw impression and/or a lower jaw impression, obtaining an impression scan, evaluating the quality of the impression scan, and use the impression scan to obtain a three-dimensional model, thereby obtaining an accurate three-dimensional model of the dental impression.

  • Publication number: 20080306709
Abstract: The present invention relates to adaptive 3D scanning wherein a scan sequence for obtaining full geometrical coverage of a physical object are created automatically and specifically for the physical object, by using a method and a system for producing a 3D computer model of a physical object, wherein the method comprises the following steps providing a scanner system, said scanner system comprising a scanner, and a computer connectable to and/or integrated in said scanner, said computer comprising a virtual model of said scanner, entering shape information of the physical object into the computer, creating in said computer a visibility function based on said virtual model and the shape information, said visibility function being capable of evaluating the coverage of areas of interest of the physical object by at least one predetermined scan sequence, establishing at least one scan sequence based on the evaluation of the visibility function, performing a scan of the physical object using said at least one scan

  • Publication number: 20040107080
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for computer-controlled modelling of customised earpieces. These earpieces include housings for hearing aids, wireless or connected communication devices (headsets, mobile phones, personal agents), loud speakers, tinnitus masking devices, devices recording vibrations in the skull and transforming these into audio signals, voice recognition devices, earplugs, noise blockers with selective frequencies or sound levels, Man Machine Interface (MMI) products that enable clear communication even in the noisiest environments, or products related to wireless Internet applications. All these earpieces may be worn in the user's meatus and/or auditory canal. The invention also relates to a computerised system for manufacturing such customised earpieces. In particular, the invention is directed to a computerised system that models an earpiece based on a three-dimensional replica of the user's meatus and/or auditory canal.

  • Publication number: 20030164952
Abstract: The invention concerns the three-dimensional scanning of interior surfaces or cavities of limited dimensions or with restricted accessibility by providing a probe-shaped non-contact adpated to perform a scan 360° around the axis of the probe and a method for scanning. The invention furthermore relates to the creation of high precision three-dimensional replicas of real objects using 3-D scan data obtainable with the scanner according to the invention. Furthermore, the invention relates to a specific embodiment for scanning the human ear and ear canal.
