  • Patent number: 5443737
Abstract: A separation device for suspensions comprises a housing (1), a filter body (3) with a wall of filter material situated in the housing, spray means (14) adapted to spray jets of a suspension to be separated directly onto one side of the wall of filter material, and means (4, 6) for displacing the filter body relative to the spray means. According to the invention the filter body forms a substantially circular cylindrical drum (3) with a vertical center axis, the circumferential wall of the drum comprises said wall of filter material. Further, said displacement means (4, 6) is adapted to turn said cylindrical drum about said vertical center axis during operation.

  • Patent number: 5330646
Abstract: An apparatus for filtering liquids, especially for recovering fibers from white water, includes rotatable filter discs at least partially immersed in the liquid to be filtered, and a shaft wall connected to the discs forming a circular cylindrical filtrate chamber, which extends centrally through the discs. A rigid stationary partition wall extends in the filtrate chamber dividing the latter into at least two axial channels. The partition wall is spaced from the shaft wall and arranged such that all of said axial channels receive various fractions of filtrate, respectively. Filtrate discharge means is provided for discharging said fractions of filtrate respectively from the respective axial channels, such that the pressure prevailing in the filtrate of each channel is at least substantially as high as atmospheric pressure.

  • Patent number: 5316675
Abstract: A disc filtering apparatus for filtering liquids, such as fiber pulps suspensions, includes hollow filter discs, each of which has two opposed side walls of filter material. A plurality of circumferentially spaced support arms extend within each hollow filter disc, for supporting the side walls of filter material. Between the support arms, each side wall of filter material is supported by at least one wire member extending substantially along the filter disc and attached to the support arms.

  • Patent number: 5296152
Abstract: A disk filter for filtering mat forming suspensions is provided with a hollow shaft for receiving a flow of fine fraction created by hydrostatic pressure difference between the suspension to be filtered and the fine fraction in the hollow shaft. According to the invention, each disc is provided with a number of fine fraction chambers communicating with the interior of the hollow shaft via respective holes in the circumferential wall of the shaft. Each chamber is arranged, such that it functions as a dropleg during movement upwards, with the result that the coarse particle (fibre) concentration of the created coarse fraction is increased.

  • Patent number: 5296143
Abstract: An apparatus for filtering liquids, such as fibre pulp suspensions, includes annular hollow filter discs each of which has two annular liquid pervious, opposed walls covered with filter material, spray nozzle means for cleaning the filter material, and means providing relative movement between the filter material and spray nozzle means. The annular opposed walls of each filter disc are only attached to each other at their radially outer ends, whereas they are spaced from each other at their radially inner ends, such that an annular opening is defined between the interior of the filter disc and a filtrate chamber extending centrally through the filter discs. The spray nozzle means extends from the filtrate chamber through the annular opening into each filter disc. As a result, an extremely pure fine fraction can be produced, clogging of the filtering material is efficiently counteracted, and the operative part of the filter material can be increased.

  • Patent number: 5124029
Abstract: A device for fractionating pulp suspensions has a series of vertical filter sheets attached to a horizontal shaft. Suspension is sprayed against the sheets to effect a separation of coarse and fine solids. Cleansing liquid is also sprayed against the sheets to keep the filter holes open and the fabric sheets are movable with respect to the sprays.

  • Patent number: 4676809
Abstract: In a hydrocyclone plant for separating a fiber pulp suspension into a light phase and a heavy phase, comprising at least two hydrocyclones (1, 2) connected in series, there is provided a device (20) arranged both for degassing a first stream of separated heavy phase coming from one of said hydrocyclones (1) and a second stream of liquid supplied to dilute the first stream, and for mixing said two streams before they are supplied to the other one of said hydrocyclones (2).
