  • Patent number: 5764901
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and storage medium for processing data streams of a data conference between a local user of a data conferencing system and at least one remote user of the data conferencing system, the data conference comprising at least one remote video source associated with the at least one remote user and a local video source associated with the local user. A dialog window is displayed for the local user, the dialog window having a record control. One of the at least one remote video sources and the local video source is selected for recording. The record control is activated, and the selected video source is recorded into a file in response to the activation of the record control.

  • Patent number: 5740161
Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing viewed information between a first endpoint and a second endpoint of a conferencing environment so that the first and second endpoints display the same location of the viewed information includes one of the endpoints receiving a request to synchronize the viewed information. An identifier of the location to which the document is to be synchronized is also received. The viewed information at the endpoint is then updated to display the identified location. In one embodiment, the first endpoint receives the request to synchronize the viewed information and sends a view synchronization message to the second endpoint. The view synchronization message includes a page identifier corresponding to the identified location and a center point which identifies a location within the page corresponding to the page identifier. Upon receipt of the view synchronization message, the viewed information at the second endpoint is updated to display the identified location.

  • Patent number: 5621904
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and video processing system for positioning windows displayed on a screen of the video processing system. According to a preferred embodiment, the size of the screen is determined, and the position and size of a first window displayable on the screen is determined. The size of a new window to be displayed on the screen is also determined. It is then determined whether there is room to display the new window plus a gutter space outside the first window and within the screen, and the position of the new window is set in accordance with this determination.

  • Patent number: 5572649
Abstract: A central processing unit (CPU) is coupled both to a display that displays graphic and other data and to a pointer control device that permits a user to selectively position a pointer at a desired location on the display, and to signal the CPU of user selections. The CPU displays a parent window including a plurality of child windows which comprises a video conference application having a control panel window, a remote window and a local window as child windows. A function in the control panel, identified as a "ungroup" button function, may be selected by a user. The placement of the pointer over the ungroup button function and activation of the button function results in the CPU creating two new top level windows. The CPU reparents the remote and local child windows to the two new top level windows and displays the top level windows with the child windows on the display, thereby ungrouping the three child windows originally disposed within a single top level window.

  • Patent number: 5546447
Abstract: An apparatus and method for displaying caller identification information in a computer system. The present invention is a caller identification system for displaying caller information, the system comprises: 1) a telephone interface for receiving an incoming call from a caller, the telephone interface further receiving information indicating a caller telephone number corresponding to the caller, 2) logic for searching a caller information database for caller information corresponding to the caller telephone number, the caller information including at least the caller telephone number and a caller name, 3) logic for retrieving the caller information, and 4) logic for automatically displaying the caller information without user intervention. The caller identification system of the present invention includes logic for automatically displaying the caller information in a business card format.

  • Patent number: 5506954
Abstract: A video subsystem resides partially on a host processor and partially on a video board. Audio and communications subsystems reside partially on the host processor and partially on a audio/communications board. The video subsystem generates and passes local compressed video signals corresponding to local analog video signals to the communications subsystem. The audio subsystem receives and generates local compressed audio signals corresponding to local analog audio signals to the communications subsystem. The communications subsystem transmits the local compressed video and audio signals over a communications link to a remote computer system. The communications subsystem also receives remote compressed video and audio signals over the communications link from the remote computer system, and passes the remote compressed video and audio signals to the video and audio subsystems, respectively.
