Publication number: 20160220195Abstract: A non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) monitor is inflated and deflated based upon an algorithm so that a patient's current heart rate may influence the target inflation pressure and the deflation rate. In this manner, if a patient's heart rate is slower than expected, the NIBP monitor may slow its deflation rate so that an appropriate number of cardiac cycles will be captured in order to maximize accuracy. Similarly, if a patient's heart rate is faster than expected, the NIBP monitor may speed its deflation rate to minimize the time of the procedure and the stress on the patient, while still capturing an appropriate number of cardiac cycles.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2016Publication date: August 4, 2016Inventors: Asad Abu-Tarif, Gongyu Shen, Tanvi Pisolkar, Ruomei Zhang, Tony Capparelli

Patent number: 8360975Abstract: A networked interface appliance for use in the medical arena that simplifies the connectivity of medical diagnostic devices to the portable computers in electronic medical record systems (EMR's). The appliance utilizes location support hardware and software to locate and map various tagged assets within the existing environment. The appliance automatically determines the proximity of nearby portable assets and computing devices, and creates network connection to each. Data obtained from a diagnostic device connected to the appliance is buffered and transmitted to portable computing devices connected to the appliance. Using specific IP addressing, support teams can connect to the appliance to diagnose and correct problems remotely using a local area network, wide area network or the Internet. A video port for remotely controlled video display and for local data acquisition is included. Location data from the appliance can be utilized in improving billing algorithms and workflow analysis.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2008Date of Patent: January 29, 2013Assignee: Midmark CorporationInventors: Thomas D.
