  • Patent number: 8614731
Abstract: A system and method of determining the quality of audio-visual services of a mobile telephone is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes wirelessly receiving streaming audio-video content at the mobile telephone and wherein the audio-video content comprises video content and audio content. The video content is formed of a plurality of video frames with each encoded with one or more video symbols. The audio content is formed of a plurality of audio segments with each encoded with a sequence of tones. The method further includes outputting the audio content with the mobile telephone and displaying the video content with the mobile telephone. A computer processes the video symbols of each video frame of the displayed video content to determine a video quality of the displayed video content and processes the sequences of tones of the outputted audio content to determine an audio quality of the outputted audio content. The determined audio and video quality is then output by the computer.

  • Publication number: 20100080143
Abstract: A system and method of determining the quality of data services of a mobile telephone is provided. In one embodiment, a method comprises wirelessly receiving content as data stream of data packets at the mobile telephone via a mobile telephone network, storing the received data packets in a memory, storing in the memory reception sequence data comprising data of the sequence of reception of each data packet received, storing in a memory reception timing data comprising data of the timing of the reception of each packet received, reconstructing the data stream by providing the data packets to an end user application in a sequence determined by the reception sequence data and spaced apart in time as determined by the reception time data, presenting the content with the end user application, and determining a quality assessment of the content based on the output of the end user application. The end user application may be resident on a mobile telephone device or a computer.

  • Publication number: 20090124250
Abstract: A system and method for testing a mobile telephone devices configured to communicate over a mobile telephone network is provided. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a user selection of one of a plurality of communication tests, wherein each test comprises one or more tasks and each task is configured to communicate test payload via at least one of a plurality of different communication protocols. The method further includes communicating one or more tests payloads over the mobile telephone network with the mobile telephone device according to the one or more tasks of the selected test, and determining the results of the test. The results may include one or more of throughput, connectivity, error rate, loss of connectivity, latency, jitter, and others. The results may be stored on a computer along with data identifying the mobile telephone device and the location of the handset during the test. Example protocols include FTP, UDP, HTTP, Ping, and others.
