  • Publication number: 20120199022
Abstract: A state of a print head is checked by printing a plurality of images in order on a sheet fed from a sheet feeding unit, and reading the printed images. A region that is inappropriate for performing printing on the fed sheet is detected. When the inappropriate region has been detected, printing the images is stopped and the sheet is cut. Of the cut sheets, the sheet at an upstream is sent back to the sheet feeding unit. Subsequently, the sheet is again fed to perform printing and conduct a test.

  • Publication number: 20120199026
Abstract: A printing apparatus sequentially prints a plurality of images on a first surface of a sheet, and then sequentially prints a plurality of images on a second surface that is a back surface of the first surface. When a state of a printing unit is determined not to be normal when printing on the first surface, the printing apparatus executes processing for maintenance by using a sheet different from the sheet used for printing on the first surface.

  • Publication number: 20120076560
Abstract: In order to prevent a printing process from clogging by reason of being incapable of discharging a sheet to a discharge destination in the case of duplex printing on a continuous sheet, the number of pages to be printed continuously on the same side of the sheet is decided so that the number of required discharging destinations conforms to the number of available discharge destinations. Then, according to the decision, printing on the same side of the sheet is performed, and the sheet is discharged to the respective discharge destinations.

  • Patent number: 8130406
Abstract: When a print command that designates a layout recording function by its upper layer, and designates a frame print function by its lower layer is transmitted from a camera to a printer, the printer determines a layout print function that prints a plurality of images on a single sheet, based on the upper layer. In a case where the printer can determine the lower layer of the command, the printer acquires details of a layout. In a case where the printer cannot determine the lower layer of the command, the printer determines a normal frame print function. The printer prints a normal layout image or special frame image in accordance with the determined layout of images.

  • Publication number: 20110243637
Abstract: In printing data of a plurality of pages on a continuous sheet, it is determined whether the data is to be printed on a single side of the continuous sheet or on both sides thereof. A first sequence of pages arranged on a first side of the continuous sheet occurring when it is determined that the data is to be printed on the single side and a second sequence of pages arranged on the first side of the continuous sheet occurring when it is determined that the data is to be printed on the both sides such that the first and second sequences are opposite to each other. Each of the first and second sequences indicates whether the pages are arranged in descending order or in ascending order.

  • Patent number: 7990555
Abstract: According to a print system, a printer supplies function information of the printer to a DSC based on a communication link between the DSC and the printer, and the DSC establishes a UI based on the supplied function information to display it on the DSC. The DSC converts image data of an image file according to print conditions set up based on the UI and the function information of the printer and transmits the converted image file to the printer.

  • Patent number: 7929172
Abstract: In this invention, to enable printing of an image that has undergone an image process or print process complying with the desire of a user on an image supply device side, real object handles and virtual object handles are set to, of images to be supplied to the printing device, images that require a predetermined image process and remaining images, respectively. A print job including the object handle of a print target image is issued in accordance with a print instruction. If the handle of an image requested by the printing device in response to the issued print job is a virtual object handle, the predetermined image process is executed for image data corresponding to the handle, and the processed image data is supplied to the printing device.

  • Patent number: 7800649
Abstract: After applications installed in a DSC and PD printer establish a communication procedure, the DSC issues a request to the PD printer. A time required for data transfer involved in the request is predicted. An elapse time until a response is received from the PD printer in response to the request is estimated on the basis of the predicted time. If no response is returned from the PD printer within the estimated elapse time, the request is disabled.

  • Patent number: 7715033
Abstract: When the function of a printer has been changed, the printer notifies a DSC of a change in printer function using a capabilityChanged tag. If the DSC does not return any inquiry about the capabilityChanged tag, the printer determines that the DSC has no function that supports the capabilityChanged tag. The printer executes disconnection and re-connection of USB to execute a communication procedure with the DSC from the beginning, thereby notifying the DSC of the latest capability information in the printer.

  • Patent number: 7639278
Abstract: When a digital camera and printer are directly connected via a communication interface, and a recording process in the printer is interrupted while transmitting image data from the camera to the printer and recording the image data, the camera designates the restart of the recording process and it is determined whether the printer is of a type capable of restarting the recording process. In a case where the printer is determined to be the type capable of restarting the recording process and a DPOF (digital print order format) file is being printed, the DPOF file is resent to designate printing from a page next to the printed page. In a mode in which image data are sequentially transmitted to the printer and printed, a print process of image data subsequent to the printed image data is designated.

  • Patent number: 7515309
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, when a printer which is directly connected to a digital camera via a communication interface and records image data transmitted from the digital camera receives a recording request from the camera, the printer acquires an image data amount to be supplied from the digital camera, and determines whether to be able to receive the whole image data at once and process the image data. In a case where it is determined that the image data is not able to be processed, the printer requests segmented data of the image data stored in the digital camera. The printer receives the segmented data a plurality of number of times, and prints the whole image data.

  • Patent number: 7502049
Abstract: A digital camera has a storage medium which stores imagedata and a DPOF associated with a print process of the image data, acquires information associated with the function of a printer upon connection of that printer, sets a CDPS job command associated with the print process of the image data on the basis of the acquired information associated with the functions, sets a print condition for the printer on the basis of the DPOF and CDPS command, and sends a print instruction. The printer acquires image data stored in the storage medium in accordance with the designated print condition and prints the image data.
