  • Publication number: 20240408293
Abstract: Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a negative pressure source, a connector port, at least one switch, and a controller. The negative pressure source is connected through the connector port to either (i) a wound dressing having a canister configured to store fluid aspirated from the wound or (ii) a wound dressing without a canister between the connector port and the wound dressing. The controller determines, based on a signal received from the at least one switch, whether the canister is positioned in the fluid flow path and adjusts one or more operational parameters of negative pressure wound therapy based on the determination. The switch is activated by the connection of either the canister or canisterless wound dressing to the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 12160474
Abstract: In some examples, a first computing device of a plurality of computing devices may be a member of a first partition group. For example, the first partition group may correspond to a first partition of multiple partitions of a metadata database. The first partition group may include at least one other computing device. Furthermore, each of the plurality of computing devices may maintain at least one partition of the metadata database so that the metadata database is partitioned into multiple partitions distributed across the computing devices. The first computing device may determine a first time threshold for a heartbeat communication to be sent to the other computing device(s) in the first partition group, and may select a random time before the first time threshold. The first computing device may send, based on the selected random time, the heartbeat communication to the other computing device(s) in the first partition group.

  • Publication number: 20240345054
Abstract: Methods of screening types and amounts of antioxidants, determining effectiveness of the antioxidants, preparing compositions including effective amounts of the antioxidants (and uses thereof), and reducing the formation of clogged pores and acne are provided. Methods include the formation of test samples in a solvent system (optionally with one or more bacterial metabolites) including one or more antioxidants in amounts to be evaluated for effectiveness against control samples without antioxidants. The samples are exposed to an oxidation-inducing element (such as UVA rays) and the amount of oxidation byproduct is evaluated. Based on the effectiveness of the antioxidant(s) in the amount(s) tested, formulations can be prepared to include the one or more antioxidants in the amount(s) effective to reduce oxidation of the oxidizable component, preventing and reducing the formation of the oxidation byproduct.
