Publication number: 20230008084Abstract: Doors on a vehicle may be controlled by a door positioning system that moves the doors freely and fluidly relative to the body of the vehicle. The doors may include front and rear doors on each side of the vehicle. The door positioning system may control the movement and positioning of each door using a door mechanism coupled between the door and the body of the vehicle. The door positioning system may determine a position or path of motion for each door based on sensor data and user input. The door positioning system may issue corresponding control signals to actuators in the door mechanism to position the door accordingly. For example, the front door may slide open at an angle to accommodate an angled tire. Front and rear doors may open in opposite directions to create a large, unobstructed space for passengers to enter and exit the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2022Publication date: January 12, 2023Inventors: Matthew L. Brown, Phillip Michael Hobson, John Raff, Sung H. Kim, Russell C. Mead, JR., Ronald J. Smith

Patent number: 8012164Abstract: An auger is axially fixed to and positioned within a cutter. The auger and cutter advance at the same time relative to a contact structure placed against a vessel, penetrating the wall of the vessel and cutting a tissue plug. When the auger and the cutter are retracted from the vessel wall, the tissue plug is retained by the auger and cutter and removed from the vessel wall. The auger and the cutter thus create an opening in the vessel wall, without the need for a prior incision in that wall.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2002Date of Patent: September 6, 2011Assignee: Cardica, Inc.Inventors: Brendan M. Donohoe, Theodore M. Bender, Brian R. DuBois, Scott O. Chamness, Stephen A. Yencho, Jaime S. Vargas, Nathan H. White, Gregory B. Arcenio, Heather L. Klaubert, Russell C. Mead, Jr.

Patent number: 7900759Abstract: Various technologies and techniques are disclosed for providing a cord retraction mechanism for an input device. A subassembly having an input device, a cable, and a retraction mechanism is provided. The cable has first and second opposing ends, with the first end being operable to be coupled to a computing device, and the second end being operable to be coupled to the input device. The cable provides an electrical communication between the computing device and the input device. The cable has an extended configuration and a storage configuration. In the extended configuration, the cable extends outwardly from the computing device. In the storage configuration, the majority of the cable is in a substantially linear orientation. The retraction mechanism has at least one pulley member for displacing the pulley member between first and second positions to allow the cable to move from the storage configuration to the extended configuration.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2006Date of Patent: March 8, 2011Assignee: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Sung H Kim, Russell C Mead, Jr., Lawrence E Davis
