Publication number: 20230237999Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices of a voice-directed inspection system that supports multiple inspectors in the inspection of business assets are described. Inspection plans for large and complex business assets can involve several steps. It is advantageous to split large inspection plans into non-overlapping sections to allow multiple inspectors to perform concurrent inspections. Such sectionalizing is also useful in training new inspectors.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2023Publication date: July 27, 2023Inventors: Matthew NICHOLS, Alexander Nikolaus MRACNA, Kurt Charles MILLER, Russell EVANS, Mark KOENIG, Navaneetha MYAKA, Bernard KRILEY, Luke SADECKY, Brian L. Patent number: 10179880Abstract: Particulate mercury, in the form of metacinnabar, is removed from crude oil by thermally treating the crude oil at temperatures in a range from 150° C. to 350° C. and at a pressure sufficient to limit the amount of crude vaporizing to no more than 10 wt. %. In the thermal treatment, the particulate mercury is converted into elemental mercury, which can be removed by directly adsorption from the crude onto a support. In one embodiment, the elemental mercury can be removed by stripping the crude with a gas, and then adsorbing the mercury onto a support. The crude oil can be optionally treated prior to stabilization and contains 0.1 wt. % or more of C4-hydrocarbons. Following the thermal treatment, the treated crude is cooled and the pressure is reduced. The C4-hydrocarbons then vaporize from the crude and carry the elemental mercury with them. The elemental mercury in this hydrocarbon gas stream may then be removed by a solid adsorbent.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2015Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.Inventors: Dennis John O'Rear, Russell Evan Cooper

Patent number: 10179879Abstract: A method is provided for recovering mercury from a crude oil into an alkaline ammonium sulfide contacting solution. Soluble mercury complexes in the contacting solution are converted to particulate mercury. The particulate mercury can be recovered by filtering, and the ammonium sulfide in the contacting solution recycled to the aqueous contacting solution.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2016Date of Patent: January 15, 2019Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.Inventors: Dennis John O'Rear, Russell Evan Cooper, Shabbir Husain

Patent number: 9926775Abstract: A predictive tool is provided for estimating the mercury content of hydrocarbons to be produced from a wellbore in a newly investigated subterranean hydrocarbon producing formation based on the mercury content of an inorganic sample recovered from the wellbore. The mercaptans content of liquid hydrocarbons and/or the hydrogen sulfide content of natural gas produced from the formation may also be used to enhance the prediction. Based on the predicted value, a mercury mitigation treatment may be provided to mitigate the mercury content of hydrocarbons produced from the formation.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2015Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.Inventors: Dennis John O'Rear, Russell Evan Cooper, Wei Wang, Sujin Yean

Patent number: 9549859Abstract: A pant-like garment having an elastomeric film laminate front panel and back panel. A front leg elastic member disposed adjacent the front panel leg edge. A back leg elastic member disposed adjacent the back panel leg edge. The absorbent garment having a leg elastic covering panel which extends between and interconnects the front panel to the back panel such that the front leg elastic member is sandwiched between the leg elastic covering panel and the front panel and such that the back leg elastic member is sandwiched between the leg elastic covering panel and the back panel. The length of the leg elastic covering panel is less than the garment length. An absorbent composite is attached to the leg elastic covering panel and a pair of side seams connects the front region to the back region to define a waist opening and a pair of leg openings.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2013Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Todd W. Patent number: 9523043Abstract: Mercury in distilled products from a distillation column is removed and extracted as soluble mercury compounds with the injection of a complexing agent into the overhead sections of the column. Examples of complexing agents include polysulfides such as sodium polysulfide or ammonium polysulfide. In one embodiment, the complexing agent is injected into the inlet pipe just before the overhead condenser, converting the volatile elemental mercury into a species that is soluble in the sour water stream that collected in the overhead sections.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2014Date of Patent: December 20, 2016Assignee: Chevron U.S.A. Inc.Inventors: Dennis John O'Rear, Russell Evan Cooper

Publication number: 20160319652Abstract: A subsea storage unit (SSU) with a flexible bag (flexible bladder or expandable skin) is used for produced water storage. The use of the SSU allows the solids to settle out in the storage vessel that would otherwise have settled out and accumulated on underwater surfaces, removal of hydrocarbons and the smoothing out of variations in water quality resulting from process upsets. Solids that remain in suspension and exit the SSU will then disperse without any appreciable settlement to be completely dispersed. Accumulated solids can be retrieved with the expandable skin, which can then be replaced for continued service.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 29, 2016Publication date: November 3, 2016Inventors: Christopher John Kalli, Russell Evan Cooper
