Publication number: 20240177036Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for visually depicting a topology of a quantum device. Quantum system calibration data is retrieved, which includes the number of qubits utilized by the quantum device and a coupling map, which provides connectivity data pertaining to how qubits of the quantum device are interconnected. Furthermore, the operational characteristics of the quantum device are retrieved. A topology diagram of the quantum device is then generated and displayed based on the quantum system calibration data and the operational characteristics of the quantum device, where the nodes in the topology diagram represent the qubits utilized by the quantum device and are interconnected in the topology diagram based on the coupling map. Furthermore, the distance of each line interconnecting two nodes is based on the operational characteristics of the quantum device, such as the value of the operational characteristic involving the qubits represented by the two nodes.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2022Publication date: May 30, 2024Inventors: Joel Russell Huffman, Francis Harkins, Stefan A. Publication number: 20240152790Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for assisting users in creating quantum circuits. Quantum logic gates of a quantum circuit (being designed by a user) that are to be grouped together are identified. Upon identifying such quantum logic gates, those quantum logic gates are grouped together into a grouped set of quantum logic gates. Upon forming a grouped set of quantum logic gates, filters are displayed in connection with the quantum circuit being designed by the user, where each of these filters is configured to display particular information (e.g., which gates form the grouped set of quantum logic gates, illustrate how the grouped set of quantum logic gates is transpiled to a hardware system) regarding the grouped set of quantum logic gates. For example, such filters may be visually displayed on the top of the quantum circuit being built by the user in a graphical user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2022Publication date: May 9, 2024Inventors: Joel Russell Huffman, Kristen Zelenka Lee, Frank Harkins

Patent number: 11580286Abstract: Systems and techniques that facilitate electronic generation of three-dimensional quantum circuit diagrams are provided. In various embodiments, a system can comprise a data component that can access qubit topology data characterizing a quantum computing device. In various aspects, the system can further comprise a rendering component that can render a three-dimensional quantum circuit diagram based on the qubit topology data. In various instances, the qubit topology data can indicate which qubits of the quantum computing device are coupled together. In various cases, the rendering component can render the three-dimensional quantum circuit diagram by generating a two-dimensional qubit configuration model of the quantum computing device based on which qubits of the quantum computing device are coupled together, by extruding one or more qubit lines three-dimensionally outward from the two-dimensional qubit configuration model, and by rendering one or more quantum gates on the one or more qubit lines.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2021Date of Patent: February 14, 2023Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Joel Russell Huffman, Asier Arranz Jimenez

Patent number: 11556569Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for visualizing a machine learning model are provided. A confusion matrix and model performance metric data are received from a classification model. For each data point in the confusion matrix, a corresponding pixel is generated. The pixels are grouped into clusters. Each cluster represents a label in the confusion matrix. A centroid is generated for each cluster. Using the model performance metric data, a misclassification indicator arrow is generated for each misclassified data point. The misclassification indicator arrow indicates both the predicted class and the actual class. The clusters, the centroids, and the misclassification indicator arrow are displayed as a graphical visualization of the machine learning model.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2020Date of Patent: January 17, 2023Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ellen R. Kolsto, Mark Marrara, Joel Russell Huffman, Stefan A. G. Van Der Stockt

Patent number: 11310433Abstract: Gestural zoom operation of an imaging device is facilitated by receiving, by one or more processors, zoom configuration data of a user for configuring gestural zoom operation of the imaging device, where the imaging device includes a gestural zoom mode with a zoom function that is user-configurable, and by configuring for the user, by the one or more processors, the gestural zoom operation of the imaging device for the gestural zoom mode. The configuring uses the received zoom configuration data, and includes configuring the zoom function for the user and mapping a selected portion of the configured zoom function to a gestural range of the user of the imaging device.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2020Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Joel Russell Huffman, Stefan A. Patent number: 10893231Abstract: An approach is provided in which the approach initiates a video conference between a first user utilizing a first device and a second user utilizing a second device. The first device uses a camera positioned at a first set of coordinates to capture a first live video feed of the first user from a first alignment perspective, and also displays a second live video feed of the second user on the screen at a second set of coordinates. The approach manipulates the first live video feed such that the manipulated first live video feed captures the first user from a second alignment perspective corresponding to the second set of coordinates, and transmits the manipulated first live video feed to the second device.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2020Date of Patent: January 12, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Joel Russell Huffman, Stefan A. Publication number: 20060266948Abstract: A portable, hand held, multi-sensor radiation detector is disclosed. The detection apparatus has a plurality of spaced sensor locations which are contained within a flexible housing. The detection apparatus, when suspended from an elevation, will readily assume a substantially straight, vertical orientation and may be used to monitor radiation levels from shipping containers. The flexible detection array can also assume a variety of other orientations to facilitate any unique container shapes or to conform to various physical requirements with respect to deployment of the detection array. The output of each sensor within the array is processed by at least one CPU which provides information in a usable form to a user interface. The user interface is used to provide the power requirements and operating instructions to the operational components within the detection array.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2005Publication date: November 30, 2006Inventors: Kenneth Hofstetter, Charles Fulghum, Lawrence Harpring, Russell Huffman, Donald Varble
