    Abstract: A terminal adapter such as a residential gateway or an eMTA is configured to receive a set of signals such as a 403 message from network devices operating in a VoIP network. In response to receiving the signals, the terminal adapter provides audio information to a caller at a telephone. For example, when the caller attempts to make a call, the terminal adapter receives a 403 message which causes the terminal adapter to play an audio file to the caller.
