  • Publication number: 20080250422
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for executing multiple threads in a processor. Credits are set for a plurality of threads executed by the processor. The processor alternates among executing the threads having available credit. The processor decrements the credit for one of the threads in response to executing the thread and initiates an operation to reassign credits to the threads in response to depleting all the thread credits.

  • Publication number: 20080214058
Abstract: An advanced modular plug connector assembly incorporating an insert assembly disposed in the rear portion of the connector housing. In one embodiment, the connector has a plurality of ports in multi-row configuration, and the insert assembly includes a substrate adapted to receive one or more electronic components such as choke coils, transformers, or other signal conditioning elements or magnetics. The substrate also interfaces with the conductors of two modular ports of the connector, and is removable from the housing such that an insert assembly of a different electronics or terminal configuration can be substituted therefor. In this fashion, the connector can be configured to a plurality of different standards (e.g., Gigabit Ethernet and 10/100). In yet another embodiment, the connector assembly comprises a plurality of light sources (e.g., LEDs) received within the housing. Methods for manufacturing the aforementioned embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080168448
Abstract: A deadlock prevention mode indicator is provided, wherein the deadlock prevention mode indicator is a lock that can be held in a shared mode or in an exclusive mode by one or more of a plurality of threads, and wherein the plurality of threads can cause deadlocks while acquiring a plurality of data locks. An execution of the plurality of threads is serialized by allowing a data lock to be acquired by a thread in response to the thread holding the deadlock prevention mode indicator, wherein serializing the plurality of threads avoids any deadlock from occurring.

  • Publication number: 20080168447
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture, wherein an execution unit requests additional execution time from a kernel to prevent the execution unit from being swapped out during an execution of a critical section. The kernel determines whether the execution unit has previously avoided yielding execution to other execution units within a predetermined period of time after being allocated the additional execution time in response to at least one previous request for the additional execution time. The kernel allocates the additional execution time to the execution unit, in response to determining that the execution unit has not previously avoided yielding execution to the other execution units within the predetermined period of time after being allocated the additional execution time in response to the at least one previous request for the additional execution time.

  • Patent number: 7383388
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture, wherein a first storage unit is coupled to a second storage unit. The first storage unit and the second storage unit are detected. A determination is made that the first storage unit is capable of responding to a write operation faster than the second storage unit, and that the second storage unit is capable of responding to a read operation at least as fast as the first storage unit. Data is written to the first storage unit. A transfer of the data is initiated from the first storage unit to the second storage unit. The data is read from the second storage unit, in response to a read request directed at both the first and the second storage units.

  • Patent number: 7360096
Abstract: The present invention provides for securely processing client credentials used for Web-based access to resources. A login page with an interface for entering user credentials is presented at a client and entered user credentials are sent to the server. In response to receiving user credentials, the server generates a unique session identifier for the client. The server also derives a digital signature for the user credentials based on a current key in a rotating key store and the unique session identifier. The server then encrypts the digital signature and the user credentials based on an encryption key derived from the current key and the unique session identifier. When encrypted credentials are received back at the client, keys from the rotating key store are used to attempt to validate the credentials. If user credentials can not be validated, a user is again presented with the login page.

  • Patent number: 7240707
Abstract: A portable work bench station having a base with a flat plate having four holes for securing to the work bench. The base has a longitudinal hollow receiver opening to the outside edge of the work bench. The portable work bench station has a receiver arm having outside dimensions smaller than the inside dimensions of the longitudinal hollow receiver so the receiver arm mates to and slidingly engages the hollow interior diameter of the longitudinal hollow receiver in telescopic fashion. The receiver arm has a mounting plate. The portable work bench station has an L-shaped tool mount which adjustably attaches to the mounting plate and to which is attached the tool to be used. The L-shaped tool mount has a horizontal wing and a vertical wing. The vertical wing is secured to the mounting plate and the horizontal wing has a plurality of apertures for receiving a fastening device such that a tool, vise, grinder, etc., can be securely fastened to the L-shaped tool mount.

  • Patent number: 6877211
Abstract: A method of making a microelectronic package. The advanced microelectronic component package incorporates a specially shaped base element which holds and electrically separates the individual conductors associated with the microelectronic component(s) so that the individual conductors may be bonded to external package leads and other conductors within the package. In a first embodiment, jacketed, insulated wire is used as one winding of a toroidal transformer, while unjacketed insulated wire is used as another winding. The jacketing is stripped from the first winding and the exposed conductors are routed into channels along the sides of the base element. The unjacketed conductors are also routed into the same channels, where both conductors are bonded to the external package leads. Raised elements along the sides of the base provide the required electrical separation between the conductors during both manufacture and operation. A method of manufacturing the improved microelectronic package is also disclosed.
