    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of measuring the depletion of basic additives in a lubricating oil. A sensor is immersed into the oil, an electric current is passed through the sensor, and the resistance of the sensor is measured. The sensor is made of copper, lead, mixtures of copper and lead, copper alloys, lead alloys, or mixtures thereof. Also disclosed is apparatus for indicating when the basic additives in a lubricating oil have been depleted. The apparatus consists of a sensor which is immersed in the oil, a first pair of electrodes for passing an electric current through the sensor, a second pair of electrodes for measuring the electrical resistance of the sensor, and an indicator for indicating when the electrical resistance has increased to a predetermined amount.

Alternatively the epoxy resin seal may be disposed between flared portions of the ferrule and an unscored portion of the tubular body. In both cases the adhesive characteristics of the epoxy are such that the seal retains its sealing capabilities in a temperature range from -40.degree. C. to +150.degree. C.

    Abstract: A centrifugal compressor refrigeration system is made, employing a halocarbon gas refrigerant in contact with a lubricant composition comprising 100 parts of castor oil and from 20 parts to 110 parts of a chemically and thermally stable, low viscosity blending fluid, soluble in castor oil; wherein the halocarbon gas is only slightly soluble in the lubricant composition, which provides good lubricity over the expected temperatures and operating conditions of the refrigeration system and is highly resistant to chemical reaction with the halocarbon and/or materials in the refrigeration system.
