    Abstract: A catheter access system comprises and integrally molded base sheet which forms first and second opposed slide valve walls. The slide valve walls form an upwardly-open longitudinal valley therebetween. An elongated sliding member is received for slidable movement within the longitudinal valley. A plurality of slide valve inlet ports extend through the first slide valve wall. A slide valve outlet port extends through the second slide valve wall. A plurality of syringes are mounted on the integrally-molded base sheet for fluid communication with the slide valve inlet ports. The elongated sliding member is movable between a plurality of discrete longitudinal positions to individually select slide valve inlet ports for connection to the slide valve outlet port. The sliding member has a plurality of sliding member passageways corresponding to the slide valve inlet ports.

    Abstract: A catheter access system includes upper and lower laminated sheets. The upper sheet is integrally molded to form a plurality of longitudinally-extending syringe channels. The second sheet extends along the syringe channels to enclose them from beneath and to form a plurality of syringe barrels. An independently operable syringe plunger is slidably received within each syringe barrel. A syringe barrel selection valve is formed between the upper and lower sheets. It has a plurality of individually-selectable valve inlets, as well as a single valve outlet for fluid connection to a catheter access line in a patient. The laminated upper and lower sheets define individual fluid passages connecting individual syringe barrels to corresponding individual valve inlets. The syringe barrel selection valve can be turned to provide fluid communication between the valve outlet and any one of the syringe barrels.

    Abstract: A catheter access system includes a syringe body having at least two barrels. The syringe body includes an axle integrally formed thereof. Such also includes an independent fluid conduit associated with each of the two barrels. The fluid conduits extending toward a base end of the syringe body at spaced locations. An independent plunger is associated with each of the two barrels. An associated valve body has a bore provided therethrough, with the syringe body axle being received in such bore to support the valve body and syringe body relative to one another for rotation about the syringe body longitudinal axis. The valve body has a first fluid passageway positioned to align with either selected one of the syringe body fluid conduits when the valve body and syringe body are selectively rotated relative to one another. A second fluid passageway isolated from the first fluid passageway is provided in the valve body to enable air or other fluid to be discharged separately relative to the catheter.

    Abstract: A central venous catheter initialization and access system is disclosed for initially flushing and establishing a heparin lock in multiple lumens of a central venous catheter (CVC). The system comprises a plurality of syringes integrally mounted atop a generally planar underlying support sheet in discrete and spaced groups corresponding to individual lumens of a multi-lumen CVC. Each discrete syringe group comprises at least a flush syringe and an anti-coagulant syringe. The flush syringes are pre-filled with saline, and the anti-coagulant syringes are pre-filled with heparin. A multi-position valve assembly is also mounted atop the support sheet. The multi-position valve assembly has a plurality of individual valve inlet ports in fluid communication with the respective individual syringes, and a separate valve outlet port for each discrete syringe group. The valve outlet ports have connectors which mate with the lumens of a CVC.

    Abstract: A central venous catheter (CVC) access system includes a manifold barrel which is connectable to an access lumen of a central venous catheter. Integrated flush and reagent syringes are connected in fluid communication with the manifold barrel. A fluid withdrawal syringe and a transfer lumen are also connected in fluid communication with the manifold barrel. The fluid withdrawal syringe allows withdrawal of waste blood and anti-coagulant from the CVC. The transfer lumen allows injection and withdrawal of fluids through the CVC access lumen. The flush syringe is initially pre-filled with saline which at the appropriate time is injected into the manifold barrel to flush administered medication into the patient's blood stream. The reagent syringe is initially pre-filled with a blood anti-coagulant for injection into the CVC at the conclusion of the CVC access procedure. A multi-stage injection syringe is also disclosed for sequentially injecting at least two fluids into the manifold barrel.
