Publication number: 20220056718Abstract: A thermal regulation apparatus for pool water is an apparatus that is used to regulate the overall temperature of a pool in an efficient and cost-effective manner. The apparatus may include a water-jet adapter, a tee tubing connector, a valved spout, a valved drain, and an extension pipe. The water-jet adapter enables the apparatus to be connected to a water return jet and serves as the main water inlet of the apparatus. The tee tubing connector distributes the water inflow from the water-jet adapter to the valved drain and the extension pipe. The extension pipe guides the water inflow towards the valved spout. The valved spout serves as the main outlet for the apparatus and enables the cooling of the water outflow that is diffused back into the pool. The valved drain serves as a secondary outlet for the apparatus and helps control the water flow through the apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2021Publication date: February 24, 2022Inventor: Ernest Russell Murray

Patent number: 10985608Abstract: A back-up power control system for an AC-powered component includes a bypass starter coupled to an AC bus, and a variable frequency drive (VFD) coupled to a DC bus. The VFD is selectively operable in each of (i) an active mode, such that said VFD converts DC power provided by the DC bus into a selectable frequency AC power signal, and (ii) a stand-by low-power mode. The system also includes a controller operatively coupled to the bypass starter and the VFD and programmed to (a) while the AC bus is in a normal operating condition, command the VFD to the low-power mode and operatively couple the bypass starter to the AC-powered component, and (b) while the AC bus is in an outage condition, command the VFD to the active mode and operatively couple the VFD to the AC-powered component.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2016Date of Patent: April 20, 2021Assignee: General Electric CompanyInventor: Ernest Russell Murray

Publication number: 20060225803Abstract: Dual wall co-extruded corrugated tubing which includes an outer corrugated protective layer fabricated from a relatively rigid plastic material, such as polypropylene or nylon, which provides crush strength, abrasion resistance, enhanced burst strength and enhanced thermal resistance and an inner corrugated sealing layer fabricated from a softer, more ductile, polymeric material, such as a thermoplastic elastomer, to provide a sealing surface. The dual wall co-extruded corrugated tubing is preferably fabricated as an integral one-piece component in a single operation and replaces prior art single layer extruded corrugated tubing, which is fabricated from a relatively rigid plastic material, and having end seals, which are fabricated from a softer, more ductile, polymeric material, attached to ends of the length of extruded corrugated tubing in a separate operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 22, 2006Publication date: October 12, 2006Inventors: Kenneth Chenoweth, Wayne Heverly, Russell Murray

Patent number: 4574387Abstract: This invention applies to thickness gauges consisting of a radiation source producing a beam aimed at a detector. Whenever a material to be gauged obstructs the radiation beam, the intensity received by the detector (detector output) varies and said variation can be translated into a thickness measurement. Standards are used for calibration. This invention provides computer means and methods that provide better measurements by using a function relating the thickness to the detector output in a large range and independently of random inaccuracies of the standards.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1981Date of Patent: March 4, 1986Assignee: Data Measurement CorporationInventors: Dominique Gignoux, Russell Murray

Patent number: 4086497Abstract: A method for detecting light passing flaws in discrete elements, which are normally opaque to visible light, characterized by a sampling technique to enhance the signal to noise ratio of the ultimate signal. The ultimate signal is a composite signal generated by the addition of a number of discrete sample signals, each signal representing both a repeating reaction of a photosensitive means to light passing through flaws in the normally opaque element, and random ambient signal noise.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1976Date of Patent: April 25, 1978Assignee: Columbia Research CorporationInventor: Russell Murray
