  • Patent number: 7931322
Abstract: An automotive console is provided including an accessory receiving body or bodies generally located proximate one or more base portions positioned over or secured to a body, such as, for example, a floor pan/panel of an automobile. The accessory receiving body or bodies may each include a closure panel or the like and an actuator operably associated therewith. The actuator may be a switch, such as an electronic contact, arranged in a predetermined position, such that a portion of the closure panel operably contacts the actuator to deploy an accessory, such as a beverage container or the like. Further, it will be appreciated that upon movement of the closure panel away from the actuator, the actuator will be adapted to stow the accessory.

  • Publication number: 20040050889
Abstract: The cargo management device (24) includes a frame having a pair of parallel support beams extending between a first and second end. The frame may be made of multiple frame portions that are attached to each other using hinges or other like mechanisms. The frame also has a plurality of cross beams extending between the pair of parallel support beams. A plurality of securing devices allows articles to be attached or secured to the frame between the frame and the vehicle floor (18). The cargo management device (24) also includes an attachment mechanism attaching the frame to the two opposing sidewalls (12,14) of the motor vehicle spaced apart from the vehicle floor (18) so that the articles being stored may he suspended from the frame or organized using netting and the like.

  • Patent number: 5967584
Abstract: A storage system includes an elongated, generally rectangular housing which has a forward-facing surface in the vehicle defining the rear seat backs of a vehicle and which has an open opposite end for extending into the trunk of a vehicle. The housing is slidably mounted to move from a retracted position substantially within the vehicle trunk in which the forward-facing surface defines the rear seat back rests of the rear passenger area of a vehicle and an extended position in which the generally rectangular housing is moved forwardly to expand the available storage space within the trunk. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the generally rectangular storage housing includes at least one pivoted access door such that access can be obtained to the rectangular storage housing from within the rear seat passenger area of the vehicle. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the access means includes a pivoted top lid.

  • Patent number: 5505516
Abstract: An apparatus for holding containers in a vehicle includes a base attachable to a vehicle, and a container holder member movably attached to the base for forming a container holder aperture over the base. An ashtray receptacle and an ashtray cover are integrated into the base, and one or two container holder members are movably mounted to the base on either side of the ashtray receptacle. The container holder members are extendable to form a container holder aperture over tile ashtray receptacle with the ashtray cover supporting the bottom of a container placed in the container holder aperture. The container holder members are also retractable to a storage position in the base for aesthetics. The base can be modular and retrofittably installed into a storage compartment in an existing vehicle armrest or console, or can be installed as original equipment. The container holder members are pivotally mounted on the ashtray cover, and are pivotable about a 90.degree.
