  • Publication number: 20050217556
Abstract: A valve structure includes a valve body on which is mounted a first valve and a second valve. The first valve traverses the valve body at a first position and the second valve traverses the valve body at a second position spaced apart from the first position. The first valve may comprise a fill valve and the second valve may comprise a pressure relief valve. Alternatively, a single valve structure may incorporate both the fill and pressure relief functions. The valve structure may be incorporated with a bladder made of a flexible and elastic material. In this arrangement, the valve body is positioned in a valve receiving opening in the bladder material and is sealed to the bladder material around the periphery of the valve receiving opening so as to define a sealed bladder interior with the bladder material. Such a valve and bladder combination may be used together with a hull tube to form a portion of an inflatable hull for a boat.

  • Publication number: 20050187473
Abstract: A robotic 5D ultrasound system and method, for use in a computer integrated surgical system, wherein 3D ultrasonic image data is integrated over time with strain (i.e., elasticity) image data. By integrating the ultrasound image data and the strain image data, the present invention is capable of accurately identifying a target tissue in surrounding tissue; segmenting, monitoring and tracking the target tissue during the surgical procedure; and facilitating proper planning and execution of the surgical procedure, even where the surgical environment is noisy and the target tissue is isoechoic.

  • Publication number: 20050059960
Abstract: Featured are systems, devices and apparatuses for use in minimally invasive surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic methods and/or techniques, in particular methods and/or techniques for a mammalian throat. In particular embodiments, a dexterity apparatus including one or more dexterity devices is featured, where each of the dexterity devices comprises surgical tools and each is configured and arranged with end-tip dexterity for enhanced manipulation. A portion of the dexterity devices is snake like, which is re-configurable (i.e., can be bent) so as to in effect maneuver the surgical tool and put the tool in a desired position with respect to the surgical site. Another portion of the dexterity device includes the surgical tool thereby providing the capability of performing surgical actions such as sewing, gripping, soft tissue manipulation, cutting and suction of saliva, blood and other materials from the surgical site.

  • Publication number: 20040205658
Abstract: A user friendly display interface that expedites the switching of positions of a pair of sections with each other in a displayed word processing document. The invention involves an implementation for defining one segment of displayed data in a displayed document together with defining another segment of displayed data in the displayed document, and a function enabling a user to select to swap said one segment with said another segment. There is a function responsive to such a user selection to swap for swapping the positions of the defined segments of data with each other. As an interactive aid to the user, the defined sections may be highlighted. The defined sections of data may be text; such as a phrase, a sentence, a paragraph or a whole page or more. The defined sections may also include images.

  • Patent number: 6795862
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for converting configuration information input in a format for a first version of a management protocol into configuration information for a second version of the management protocol is provided. In particular, a method and apparatus for converting Simple Network Management Protocol version 1/2c (SNMPv1/v2c) style community-based access configuration information into user-based access information for configuring a SNMPv3 agent is provided. The method and apparatus make use of various graphical user interfaces to allow a user to enter configuration information in a format with which the user is familiar. The method and apparatus of the present invention then maps the configuration information into a format used by the device being configured.

  • Patent number: 6775636
Abstract: There is provided a testing apparatus (200) for a hybrid indicator lens and potentiometer actuator (100). The hybrid actuator (100) serves both as a knob for a potentiometer (120) and as a lens to convey light from an indicator arrangement (110). The test apparatus (200) includes a rotatable test head (204) having a light sensing means (210) and an engaging portion (202). The engaging portion (202) engages with a corresponding receiving recess (102) provided on a head portion (114) of said hybrid actuator (100) and thereby aligns the light sensing means (210) with the hybrid actuator (100). The testing apparatus (200) performs automated tests which include rotation of the hybrid actuator (100), and therefore the potentiometer (120) to a range of test settings and inspection of the functionality of the indicator lens arrangement (110).

  • Publication number: 20040039991
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are disclosed for dynamically generating code within a server computer system to process contents input into an input field in a form. The client computer system receives contents that are input into an input field that is included within the form. The input field has been defined using a descriptor variable. A definition of this descriptor variable is defined within the form. The form, including the definition of the descriptor variable, is transmitted from the client computer system to the server computer system. The server computer system then dynamically generates code to process the contents entered into the input field utilizing the definition of the descriptor variable that was included in the form.

  • Patent number: 6592018
Abstract: The present method relates to the use of a peelable anti-solder mask as a sealant against potting compound. In certain electrical apparatus, a modular component (300) must be attached to a side of a printed circuit board (PCB) (110) which has previously been exposed to solder. Solder ‘pick up’ is prevented by application of a removable mask (202) over areas of the exposed side of the PCB (110) which will receive the modular component (300). Potting compound is used to protect components of electrical circuits (108) from vibration, moisture and static discharges. The anti-solder mask (202) can be used as a thin gasket to prevent the ingress of potting compound between the modular component (300) and the PCB (110).

  • Patent number: 6560556
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting and locating a circuit defect. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus includes a resistance measuring device for measuring the resistance of the circuit, a heat source, and a recorder. The heat source is placed near the surface of the circuit but is not placed in physical contact with the surface. The heat source is moved about to a plurality of points in a plane parallel to and above the surface of the circuit while the resistance of the circuit is measured when the heat source is at each of the points. The recorder is functionally connected to the resistance measuring device and to the heat source, and determines and records the horizontal location of the heat source and records the resistance of the circuit at each of these locations.
