  • Publication number: 20220185359
Abstract: A steering column assembly is disclosed that comprises: an elongate rotatable steering column, a displacement motor, a torque feedback motor; an engagement mechanism and a control. The steering column is configured at one end for attachment of a steering member and is displaceable along its longitudinal axis between a withdrawn, stowed position in which the steering function of the steering column is inhibited and an extended, deployed position in which the steering function of the steering column can be enabled. The displacement motor displaces the steering column between the stowed and deployed positions. The torque feedback motor is connected to the steering column and by which the steering column is rotatable. The engagement mechanism is engaged when the steering column is in the stowed position and limits the angular displacement of the steering column to a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20210332890
Abstract: A steering column assembly includes a housing, a shaft, a sensor, a motor, an elongate rod, a nut member, an actuator housing, and end stops. The shaft may be attached to an end of a steering wheel. The sensor may generate an electrical signal in response to rotation of the rotatably mounted shaft. The motor may apply a torque to the rotatably mounted shaft. The elongate rod may be configured to rotate with the rotatably mounted shaft and may include an externally screw-threaded portion having a nut member mounted thereon. The actuator housing may define a chamber to house the motor and a cavity which restricts rotation of the nut member with respect to the housing. The rotation of the elongate rod causes axial displacement of the nut member. The end stops may engage with the nut member.

  • Publication number: 20210114651
Abstract: An electric power steering system includes: a steering bar, an electric motor, a linear position sensor, and a sensing means. The steering bar is mechanically connected at each opposing end to a respective wheel carrier. The linear position sensor having one elongate feature that extends diagonally along a length of the steering bar such that it is inclined relative to the axis of the steering bar. The sensing means faces the steering bar and at any given time observes only a slice of the elongate feature that extends across the full width of the feature and along only a part of the length of the feature. The sensing means generates a signal that varies depending on the pattern formed by the feature and adjacent portions of the steering bar that is observed by the sensing means.

  • Patent number: 9246754
Abstract: Method and system are provided for automatic failover between multiple nodes in a middle-tier layer between client applications and a back-end service. The method at a first node includes: receiving a request from a client application; determining that the first node cannot service the request successfully; forwarding the request from the first node to a second peer node; receiving a response at the first node on completion of the request by the second peer node; and forwarding the response from the first node to the client application. An original path of communication between the client application and the first node is maintained. The failover of the request from the first node to the second peer node is transparent to the client application. Nodes may be registered in a group, wherein a node in a group has awareness of other nodes in the group.
