  • Publication number: 20090230209
Abstract: A device is disclosed that uses a flow-control methodology to control sprays at very high precision and frequency. The device is based on an enhanced Coanda effect. The control flow is selectively applied to the region in which we desire the jet to vector and control the profile (width) of the jet. The control flow is introduced through multiple control flow ports surrounding the primary nozzle and adjacent to the Coanda surface. By selectively opening and closing different control flow ports the motion and profile of the jet can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 7427930
Abstract: A vehicle traffic sensor for detecting and monitoring vehicular targets is presented. The sensor employs a planar design resulting in a reduced profile sensor. The sensor includes a multi-layer radio frequency board with RF components on one of the sides and both isolation and planar array antennas on the opposing side. The antennas are preferably tapered planar array antennas which include one transmit antenna and one receive antenna. The sensor also includes at least one logic or signal processing board populated with components on a first side and a ground plane on a second side positioned toward the RF componentry of the RF board to form an RF shield. The boards are housed within a housing that is permeable, at least on the side through which the antenna structures propagate.

  • Patent number: 7401116
Abstract: A visual server system (10) includes a server (12) having a graphics application (20). The graphics application (20) generates image content and position information. The server (12) streams the image content and the position information for transport over a network link. A plurality of remote clients (14) can receive the image content and position information from the server (12) over the network link. Each of the plurality of remote clients (14) may provide input parameters to the graphics application (20). The input parameters can provide adjustments to the image content and position information provided to each of the plurality of remote clients (14). The graphics application (20) selects from among the input parameters provided by the plurality of remote clients (14) for adjusting the image content and the position information provided to the remote clients (14).

  • Publication number: 20070263290
Abstract: A fiberscope device is disclosed which is suitable for video imaging, laser Raman spectroscopy and laser Raman spectroscopic (i.e. chemical) imaging. The fiberscope design minimizes fiber background interference arising from the laser delivery fiber optic and the coherent fiber optic light gathering bundle while maintaining high light throughput efficiency through the use of integrated spectral filters. In the fiberscope design, the laser delivery fiber optic is offset from the coherent fiber optic light gathering bundle. The laser delivery field is captured entirely by the light gathering field of view of the coherent fiber bundle. The fiberscope incorporates spectral filter optical elements that provide environmental insensitivity, particularly to temperature and moisture.

  • Publication number: 20070107277
Abstract: A seat identification system for passengers in a cabin of a commercial airliner. Four sign components, identified as the aisle, mile, row and seat components, are arranged and positioned throughout the airplane in a configuration that allows the passengers to receive information about their seats when needed. The aisle signage markers direct the passengers down the appropriate aisle which leads to their seat. The interval row markers or mile markers provide a general location of the particular row in the aircraft for the passenger's seats. The individual row markers are preferably located in the passenger service unit modules and in viewing channels in order to allow the markers to be visible from the aisle. The seat markers are located preferably on the headrest on each seat and are the final vindication that the passenger is in the correct seat.

  • Patent number: 6792085
Abstract: A unified messaging system is provided that includes two-way synchronization and replication of messages. The unified messaging system includes a workstation, a voice-mail server, and an e-mail server. The workstation may be a personal computer, for example. The workstation includes an agent to monitor messaging activities within the workstation mailbox. Also, the voice-mail server includes a proxy e-mail client (PEC) to operate and retrieve e-mail messages in the absence of the workstation. In accordance with the system and method of the invention, two-way synchronization and replication is provided. The two-way synchronization and replication operates between the workstation and the voice-mail server. Specifically, the replication operates between the e-mail store, e.g., the mailbox, of the workstation and the voice-mail store of the voice-mail server. The replication duplicates messages in each of the mailbox of the workstation and the voice-mail message store of the voice-mail server.

  • Publication number: 20020037827
Abstract: This invention provides nucleic acids and polypeptides encoding a novel family of matrix metalloproteinases herein designated as MMP-25 and variants of the same. MMP-25 is preferentially expressed in skin cells of a mammal, particularly in breast cells and hair follicles. Expression in hair follicles is localized in the Henle layer of cells, indicating a role in hair growth. Also provided are fragments and oligonucleotides useful for identifying and isolating MMP-25-encoding nucleic acids and methods for their use, as well as antibodies that bind specifically to MMP-25 and vectors for expression of MMP-25 polypeptides. Methods of inhibiting MMP-25 activity are provided, including methods useful for inhibiting hair growth.
