Abstract: A system includes one or more location determining devices for determining the geographic locations of a plurality of mobile objects and one or more computing devices. The one or more computing devices are operable to identify the geographic locations of the objects using data generated by the one or more location determining devices, generate a single geofence corresponding to the geographic locations of the plurality of mobile objects, identify a change in the geographic location of at least one of the objects, change the geofence to reflect the change in the geographic location of the at least one object, detect an event associated with the geofence, and respond to the event.

Abstract: A system for managing machine data includes one or more computing devices configured to select a plurality of mobile machines to form a machine group, receive machine operating data from each of the mobile machines in the machine group, and use the collective machine operating data to define data management parameters associated with at least one of the mobile machines. The one or more computing devices may be configured to select the plurality of mobile machines based on such factors as geographic location of the machines, machine type or model, work being performed by the machine and/or environmental conditions of the machines. The one or more computing devices may further be configured to automatically add machines to the machine group and remove machines from the machine group.

Abstract: A method of managing machine data includes managing machine operating data at a single mobile machine according to first data management parameters, collecting machine operation exception data associated with a plurality of mobile machines, using the machine operation exception data to determine second data management parameters, and managing machine operating data at the single mobile machine according to the second data management parameters. The data management parameters may relate to the collection of data, the storage of data and/or the communication of data from a mobile machine to a remote computing device. The machine operation exception data may relate to machine component failure or degradation, and may be collected by one or more systems on the machine, by an external system in communication with the machine or by a person observing the machine.
