Abstract: A process for the production of sotol by the fermentation of Dasylirion wheeleri, Dasylirion leophyllum or Dasylirion texanum using a novel methodology and apparatus is disclosed. The sotol is prepared by the process of cutting away spiky and thorn covered leaves from hearts of the harvested sotol plants; splitting and roughly shredding the hearts of the sotol plants; steaming the split and shredded hearts of the sotol plants under pressure; squeezing the steamed sotol hearts using a press to obtain an aqueous extract; and fermenting the aqueous extract to obtain sotol. The manufacturing process of the present invention provides a steady, manageable and predictable heat source, thereby allowing consistent replication of process conditions from batch to batch.

Abstract: A reusable straw holder for use in a household (or commercial) dishwasher is provided. The holder (hereinafter referred to as the “assembly”) is configured to securely hold a reusable straw during the dishwasher cycle so as to thoroughly clean the inside of the reusable straw. The assembly includes a plurality of funnel portions interconnected thereby permitting the assembly to hold and clean a plurality of reusable straws. Each of the funnel portions includes a funnel base to direct water and soap into the body of the reusable straw and a variable diameter neck portion to hold the reusable straw during the cleaning process.

An orientation sensing transfer valve is located at each interface of the upper smart arch and upper tube and a lower orientation sensing transfer valve is located at each interface between the lower smart arch and the lower tube. Deployment of the upper smart arch along with an upper canopy will be deployed with the opening of the upper orientation sensing transfer valve and the lower smart arch and a lower canopy will not be deployed since the lower orientation sensing transfer valve remains closed.

Abstract: A scraper blade preferably configured for use with a reciprocating saw. The blade has a first end comprising a mounting structure, and a second end with a cutting edge. Further, the first and second ends are preferably manufactured from heat treated steel comprising between approximately 0.45 to 1.05% carbon and between approximately 0.3 to 1.0% manganese. Preferably, the steel has a yield tensile strength of between approximately 150,000 to 250,000 pounds per square inch, a modulus of elasticity of between approximately 20,000 to 40,000 kilopounds per square inch, and a hardness on the Rockwell C scale of between approximately 30 to 60.
